Why would this bar not fit on a coupe ? what size bar is it ? 19mm ?

The 'vert sway bar is actually a different shape than the coupe. I guess there is stuff from the top storage compartment that changes the shape of the underside or something. I'll try to get a pic of the two side by side to show you hopefully tomorrow if I get the chance. And yes it is 19mm.

Ok so my coupe sway bar came in yesterday and I put them side by side....exact same shape. Guess I was wrong about that part. However, the 'vert swaybar is 19mm whereas the coupe swaybar is 20mm. I called the local Ford Dealer and he didn't have much to say about it other than they are two different part numbers. It sounds like it would fit a coupe but I can't be sure.

I can help clarify as I just did this to my 07 vert. The coupe and convertible sway bars are different. The convertible version has a few different bends to allow for the braces. A convertible sway bar WILL work on a coupe but a coupe bar won't work on a convertible (b/c the extra braces will get in the way). Also, the GT coupe rear sway bars are 20mm and the convertible rear sway bars are 18mm. Trust me... I installed prothane bushings and the 20's didn't fit so I had to go buy 18's. I also verified it with over vert owners who did the swap.

This is a great mod for all the base V6's. It really improves handling. Here are some pics of mine. I painted the white links red to match my car:
