Fuel pump

Hello I changed my fuel pump got the locking ring on all the way starts up. But not my gas gauge is at 0 and the check engine light came on. Does anyone know what happened and

When you put the pump back in the Float must have gotten stuck. You will need to go back over it to confirm.
