How many minutes to replace the follower and see if it runs? Re-check compression...

The plug would be wet just from unburned fuel in that hole. No air, no fire.

Bore scope is $100 at harbor freight.

It ran while missing those followers, the compression on the rest of the cylinders leads me to believe it needs to come apart anyway

Looked back, I guess so. How is the blowby again?

I'm glad I've decided to break the bank on pistons and rings.

Get a lot of smoke out of the breathers. There is even some oil that collects on the can covers below the breathers

Maybe I should send the heads to fox lake to get "checked out".....

Damn. What stage heads you go with from them? What valves, springs and lift? I measured my seat pressure, installed height and stack. Had l&m build me cams based in actual spring info not the crap on the side of the box (which was wrong btw)

Fox Lake pushes the Manley springs which I do not like at all. I should have gone with titanium springs but not pulling it apart now. I had to hog the crap out of the heads too get proper clearance with those fat ass dumb Manley springs. You have any spring contact with the heads?

Heads are stock. I was referring to having them p&p while they are off this time

My thinking right now is if the block is okay maybe get a different set of .030 pistons, but in a 2618 alloy this time that require a little more ptb clearance. Rehone and go back together with upgraded wrist pins, stronger pistons and a forged crank. Think that is doable?

Why replace something that isn't broken? I'm going to guess that the blowby is from your machine shop setting ptb too large for those pistons. How much oil does it consume?

I would say 3/4 to 1 qt every 1000 miles of so. Hard to tell because I drive it in short spurts and only have to charge oil once a year just to change it.

It's a new motor, right? My new car burned a quart in the first 1000 miles, half a quart in the next 3500 miles. How many miles on the engine since you built it?

Well maybe I will throw some new rockers in it and warm it up. Do another compression test warm.

Also, all the little roller bearings are missing from the two broken rockers. What do I do about that if I don't tear it down?

Head drains should go straight to the pan, no?

Edit: damn it.

I think this is just a great excuse to reassemble and run the crap out of it.

I am pretty sure I can get the oil pan off with the engine where it is. I am going to need a spring compressor to get those to followers in there?
