I'd say the pressure plate bolts backed out. Mine lasted until 11,800 miles and went out last year on the way to Myrtle Beach for Mustang Week. The dealer there replaced everything to do with the clutch assembly.

I agree, by the sound of it all it seems like that is the issue. I'm just hoping nothing else on the drivetrain was damaged during the process. At least you got 11,000 more miles then I did.

Yes they could. My Bullitt took a beating before it ever failed.

Just got my first call from The dealership and they said the driveshaft is twisted 360* and they don't think ford is gonna cover it... Good start to my day.

That's what I'm saying.....what kind of shit is that. I've seen these driveshafts take a lot of power before failure, factory fault in my opinion.

I don't understand how you can twist one up under factory power like they with stock 235 tires out back

I baby the 5.0 bad, there is no reason for it to just fail out of the blue, the 900 miles it has are not even hard miles.

My Bullitt took 22,000 miles of hard abuse and boost before it let loose. It's irritating to say the least. They better honor the warranty and cover it

Yea man they better cover that. There's no reason a driveshaft should fail like that under stock power levels. Especially with those skinny ass tires, they don't grab worth a damn so I don't quit understand how that could happen.

They are not gonna cover it, the driveshaft is apparently twisted near the transmission and they are claiming abuse....bullshit.

After doing some research on the MT-82 I'm convinced that they are not suited to handle the power of these 5.0 motors, countless negative remarks, failures, and the under rated torque capacity.

Ford doesn't want to honor my warranty with my brand new 5.0, so as of now it's looking like I will be making the repair and resolving the current issue with the car in regards to its failure over the weekend.

My thoughts are the flywheel and clutch issue caused a failure which resulted in my clutch blowing apart and locking up the trans. Which led to the driveshaft being twisted at the flange near the transmission. When the car was put into gear and the clutch was let out it would just make a loud bang and wouldn't move. Also while the car was idling with the clutch let out you could hear some scratching up against the flywheel.

Before thr failure the car was making a whining during acceleration similar to a gear whine....

Thoughts and opinions are welcomed. I will keep everyone posted.

I don't understand PP bolts backing out/clutch grenading causing a DS to twist like that. There seems more is going on with the drive train IMO. I could maybe understand if it were seriously beat on, but 900 miles and it's crushed? That's straight up bull shit. Is it the dealer making the call here or is Ford saying warranty is denied? Has Ford sent an engineer to look or are they just taking the word of the dealer? I'd fight it and make sure a Ford rep looks at it first hand. I don't see how they can prove "abuse" without other evidence besides the DS.
