so i'm getting an roush m90 supercharger and doing the install myself with the help of a mechanic buddy of mine. My question is how good is the tune they put on when you send out the ECM? should I even bother sending it out or just get one from BBR? or should I get the roush tune and drive it until I can get a true dyno tune? I only have an intake and tune right now, which will be eliminated after the install, so it will pretty much be stock otherwise... until I decide to add more!:highfive:

thats true. but say I only get the roush pre-paid box, I'm thinking it might be worth it to buy an e-mail tune just so I don't have to wait 3 days to get my ECM back.

You could get a start up tune from several different places, Me personally id trust Torq or BBR.

yeah, I will probably go that route. I already know of a reputable tuner in my area, Just not sure how much its going to cost me yet. I'll probably give them a call when I start the build.

Do you already have an SCT tuner? If yes get the tune from JDM. Once you have Roush flash your PCM you can't go back to stock. Even if you dont have a sCT JDM should be able to cut you a deal om a tune and tuner. You will need an SCT anyway for a dyno tune.

I do have an SCT. I did not know that about the Roush tune. since thats the case I probably wont go that route just incase I ever decide to remove the SC.

i read that the ECU flash is required if you want the 3/36 warranty to be effictive. but 99% of us are going to get the upgrade kit so it a moot point.

id like to get a BBR tune for the M90, they've tuned quite a few of them. id also probably see if you can get JIM to toss in a tune too. both tuners are great.

The tune from JDM is not free. But serisouly why pay for a tune when you dont have any other mods to tune for? Wait till you add cams, LT's or pulleys then pay for the tune. Just send in your pcm to roush for their tune and use that untill you have more mods.

1. Time restraints - if I send it to roush, it will take 3 days.

2. Can't restore stock - If I ever decide to take it out to sell it I won't have my stock tune.

3. I had a third reason, but its early and I forget.... I'll get back to you on that one.

I sent mine back to Roush, for warranty purposes. Yeah I have the upgrade kit but that can easily be changed back. I am still to this day running my VMP email tune with zero issues and love it.

I just did this. Unless you are fluent with doing this job, you will never finish before the ecu is returned back to you. I sent mine out on monday am and had it back wednesday am. It was perfect timing. I do believe you need to have Roush do this to get the warranty. At return of the ecu there is now a new sticker on it that says "call Roush before programming" or something to that effect.

Fwiw, my car lit right up and seems to run just fine with no other electronic modifications or adjustments beyond what came with the standard package.

However, at this point I cant tell if I left anything on the table or not. Going to have to find a dyno somewhere to find out. Expectedly this car should now produce 380 plus rwhp. If not...somethings up. Seems to run fine but I feel (or percieve to feel) a slight missfire somewhere in the low rpm range. This is only a perception so take that statement with a grain of salt. It could very well be right-on for all I know.

Personally I would do it the Roush way by-the-book at least in the short term and take it from there.
