good idea?

So I cleaned my Roush/Air Raid filter today. I had lots of little bits of leaf stuck in the filter that were a pain to clean.

I have a ladies knee high nylon stocking that I could stretch over the filter. Lot cheaper than $25 for a precharger.

Is this a bad idea?

Hmmmm Never thought about nylons???

I use Filterwears on several of my cars but not the GT since the JLT is in the engine bay and high up from standing water.

They cost $25 and I do it more for water than dirt. Audi has a low to the ground Ram Air system and wife’s new Durango R/T has open hood grills right above the open K&N filter. Here are some pics.

Thanks. That looks a little looser, but the same porosity as I expect I'd see w/ knee highs. If it doesn't work, I can always pull it off, and I'm only out a dollar.

Use a purpose-made pre-filter "sock." Many filter makers have their own. I run one because the dust and pollen are insane here.

I wouldn't use a nylon stocking, they don't hold up to temperature and aren't sturdy enough for filtering that kind of airflow. Silk works, but negates the price point. Lingerie is made for different kinds of heat.
