I had a Dyno done on a Dynojet today and I am wondering what I should be at..
I have a 2005 Mustang GT Stock 5R55S Automatic.
Mods:
JLT II CAI
SCT Tune 93 Race tune from Bamachips
Steeda Charge Motion Delete Plates
Steeda Underdrive Pulleys
Spyder Aluminum Drive Shaft
PYPES Off Road H Pipe
FRPP 4.10 Gears
Stock Mufflers

Run 12.83 @ 106.66
Stock Base Line Dyno was 260rwhp 271rwtq

After all this what should my numbers be?

Im going to guess 290..Is it a mustang dyno or a dynojet?Closer to 300 on a dynojet..If you were to get a custom tune at a shop, u would see close to 310..I had similiar mods w/ a custom tune on my auto and put down 298 rwhp on a mustang dyno..

Well, I was not very impressed with the Numbers, I expected more

The Shop was an import mostly shop and Dynojet was a 4 wheel raised type. The guy had problems keeping the car in 4th I don't think he was doing it right but the best was 281.62 hp 288.49 tq

Those are low..whats the air/fuel ratio?? You should be closer to 300 rwhp, even with a canned tune from bama..

My guess was going to be extreme on one end or another. I figured something was odd or you wouldn't have posted this way. It was shame to waste your money there.... yeah it's low.

I have 285/303 with stock airbox (with a K&N) and 4.10's, running my stock timing map (29º) with a lightly leaner AFR (12.8). Nick @ Fastlane made that tune for me on his dyno. I figure with the UDP's and CMDP's, I should be closer to 300-305, which is where you should be.

I was at the same shop getting mine done too, and I was watching his pulls being done. My idea on the low read is because the car would not stay in 4th, even at a 65-70 MPH rolling start. It would dump into 3 or even 2 at lowed speeds. The dyno just runs out almost instantly.

At this point I would say what can be done to keep the car in 4th? I think he will get better numbers if he could pull that off...

Yea I think that had somthing to do with it, I know that shops that deal with automatic mustangs do a better job at tuning and dyno. I may have to spring for a good Dynotune at a shop that knows the 5R55S trans.
it only cost 30 bucks for three pulls with A/F so not a huge waste

I was dissapointed with the numbers, and you feel discuraged because of all the work you put into it. But I am getting the 1/4 mile times so thats all that really counts,

You said it..Get a custom dyno tune if you can..My shop found 57 rwhp over the canned vortech tune just by custom tuning it, relocating the IAT sensor and tuning for motion control plates on the dyno..I have an auto too, and he set my shift points perfectly and it shifts so crisp and strong..
ven if you have to make a drive to get it done, I would in a heartbeat..

Is there a lockout program for the Automatics?
What is that bump or loop at the end of the run?
Spaz is correct, they had issued holding the 4th gear

That dyno-graph looks wacky...

Those numbers are not too bad for an auto, but they are on the low side.

You need to get the TC locked as well as the tranny locked in 4th gear. Talk to Doug about getting the same tune you are trying to dyno with but commanding 4th gear to be locked as well as the TC.

If you have an X-Cal 2, you should be able to do that with it. I prefer the tune over the doing it myself with the X-Cal...

Ok, I need to find out how to do it on the XCAL II tuner then since this was just a Dyno Day at a local shop I just wanted to see what the tune was doing, The tune is most likely locked by Doug so another tuner can not access it.
I sent the dyno sheet to doug and the tune so maybe he can give me some ideas as well.

Again not complaining just suprized they were that low and my 1/4 mile is more consistant with cars that dyno higher

I will have to find the email I received on how to do this again and post that info...

The tune is locked, Doug would have to adjust it. That said, I think he would provide you with a dyno-run tune that locks the TC and 4th gear. You would have to ask him...

Your 1/4 time is really good, so the tune has to be close to being bang on. That is more important than what it puts out on the dyno...

+1 to locking the trans in 4th. Any dyno pull without a locked tune is a waste of time and money.

In fact, any dyno pull just to get "numbers" is a waste of time and money. :samuri:

Now you're talking!! {refer to the quote in my sig}
