I wanted to know how long would it take to install cnc p&p heads on a 2005 Mustang GT. I know experience would be the key factor on how fast, lets just say 5 being the best of knowledge if someone was a 4.

Are you doing it with the motor still in the car?

I would say... 6-8 hours. There are alot of components that need to come off for those heads to come off. Manifold, fuel rails, intake, valve covers, timing cover, remove timing chain, cams.... Then reinstall. That's if you know what your doing.

10-12 hours doing them in the car, look in the engine compartment, if you see it it most likely needs to be removed to swap the heads,

I was quoted $1260.00 in just labor plus the cost of heads and whatever else you will need so what ever that equals out to be as far as hours.......Does this sound about right as far as labor cost??

It really depends on where you live as prices can vary per region... It’s about a 8 hour (depending on experience) book time install is what i was told by the guys at FRPP when i inquired about it... So you’re basically paying 157 an hour... Does that price include dyno tune?

FYI if you’re planning on doing heads, then it would be a good time to do cams as well when everything is off.

Yeah that sounds about right....I would charge right around $1000 to do it.

Well...I wish I lived closer to you GrnBullit because I sure would let you do them.....and No Scord, that does not include the dyno tune that is just strictly the labor from the mechanic....The dyno tune will run me about another 400....I will be doing this all this winter while I have the motor broke down because I am also going to build the bottom as well and slap some bigger heads on it at the same time....lotss of $$$$$ gonna be coming out of my ass in the next month or so....lol.....but it will all be worth it in the end...

the front cover and everything that has to come off for it is the pain the butt... make sure you have a GOOD torque rench when putting the heads back on... i would also go ahead and put head studs in while you are doing it...

Yeah the $1000 would be minus the tune also, but I could prob get you a can tune to drive away with until you could afford the dyno tune. I try to stay reasonable with prices with economy being the way it is. If took less time then I expected then costs would be adjusted at the time.
