On my way to work this morning my clutch went out. I have never done a clutch install before and I have searched but I need some information kids quick. The search function does not work well on phones. This is my parts list and I was wondering if I am going to have to shim anything or what I might need, even down to the thread locker to use on the bolts.

I am getting a new oem slave cylinder,
Pilot bearing, McLeod super street pro clutch, and I have a flywheel being resurfaced.

Please give me any advice, as I need to be back on the road as soon as possible.

Thanks a Ton in advanced.

Make sure to get an upgraded transmission line. It is worth the 60 bucks in my opinion. I would go straight to the RXT. I have one and it is fantastic.

Unfortunately the parts list can't change it has to stick with that. I do not have a lot of money right now cause I am graduating school in may. Nor am I bitching about not having enough money. It is what it is. This is more just trying to get tech, install, spec advice.

I plan in building my motor after I get out of school and have a second vehicle. At that point I will be putting an RXT in because I will be boosted and hopefully running a t56.

But for just getting back and forth from school, work, car shows, and occasional track use. This clutch should be fine

Thanks, but I am going to upgrade it at least, I would like a better feeling clutch than stock. This is just what I am choosing to go with and would like some more insight. That's all

No the McLeod super street pro clutch kit, has the pressure plate. What I have complete list is.
A resurfaced flywheel to put in, super street pro clutch, super street pro pressure plate, mcleod spacer for the slave, new factory slave cylinder, alignment tool, and new pilot bearing

It sounds like you have everything you need. Have you done any research on the pressure plate and slave combo? As in do they play nice together?

It's pretty hard to improve on the stock clutch imo.

There are some threads on the subject. hammeron has a webpage dedicated to it. It's so good I've seen manufacturers link to it on their pages. http://home.comcast.net/~cookpaging/hammeron/clutch/clutch.html

Remember that the transmission will not clear the tunnel unless it's clocked or the k member is lowered. The clutch should come with specific instructions on what to loctite, torques, etc. McLeod keeps instructions on their website so you can look it up and know what to expect.

Bench bleed the slave. This means hold the line in brake fluid, compress and release the slave so it fills up. Doing this prior to installation makes a big difference when it comes time to pump it up after install.

Edit: Bookmark this link http://iihs.net/fsm/?dir=0 It is the whole manual for S197 Mustangs. 3.7, 4.0, 4.6, 5.0, and 5.4,

And get or borrow a transmission jack, it'll save you a whole lot of pain and frustration. I've got one I picked up at harbor freight years back and it's still working great.

You should be fine. Don't forget to take a break once in awhile and stay hydrated.

If you loosen your motor mounts to allow the engine to tip toward the back it'll give you much easier access to the top bolts and slave connections.

One more question, I have been reading that for the break in period I should have my traction control disabled. Because it could cause clutch slip. How true is that? I will disable tcs in my tune if that is the case.
