For the OE stuff it's $6.10 per qt. for the XL and others it's like $10.10 plus shipping. I ordered a case plus two quarts to give me two oil changes. My nephew is the one who was running his Blue Eco-boost at Hertford last year.

If anyone likes Amsoil products and needs something please let me know. My nephew is now a dealer for Amsoil. I'm switching the F150 and the Camry over to their new OE synthetic.

About freakin time! I have been using their stuff for years!

If your cousin is smart he will get a big order together to reduce the shipping cost.

Amsoil increased their prices in the early fall so Aug is a good time to submit an order...not that the price increases are huge but every penny saved helps!

I may become a dealer under him. I used to run the 2 stroke oil but never the motor oil. my case of the new OE oil just came in.

Forgive the ignorance, what's the difference between OE and XL?? And I am guessing I don't fit the requirement for XL with my little blower right? Or feel free to insert joke on me and my baby blower here.....

You are welcome Ray & Greg!!!

The difference is the interval in the oil changes; one is for 6k and the other is for yearly/15K oil.

I used the annual stuff for a year in the HL but went back to every 6 months/6K miles as I did not like the idea of having to swap the filter every 6 months, lose some oil and then had to add it back.

At the time Amsoil-who uses Wix filters, supposedly some of the best filters out there-did not have an annual filter and even of they did I can't bring myself to believe that the filter, if it was doing it's job, would not get clogged over a year.

The site and video states the XL is closer to the Mobil 1. Then Amsoil has their signature series that's supposed be even better than the XL. Just from reading the literature. Hell, the FMC 5w20 blend at Wally world is $4.50 a quart now so thats my logic of going to amsoil. We shall see

Looks like the 10 may be going bye bye in favor of a smokin 12 GT. It looks identical to my 10, but for the obvious 5.0 badge on the side, and has the e-package with Nav, HIDs, and heated seats (to keep the wife's butt warm on cool days). It has stock gears so I need to get a set of 3.73s.

They want to get rid of them badly cause the 13s will be on the lot soon. The GT500 look they're putting on every car for 13 really squashes the uniqeness of the GT500 IMO. My '10 Roush blower and other 4.6L specific items may be up for sale very soon. I'll put the stuff up here on "the hangout" first if anybody local wants to take advantage of it.
Here's to hoping the WX is nice next Saturday!

Thanks, but it's not quite concrete yet. Got paperwork to do, and I'm out of town for work, so we will be overnighting the docs. I should be back in town Friday and hopefully breaking in the 5.0 on Saturday!!!. Maybe a meet up at Starbucks for coffee?

Thought this might be my last chance for a new one for a while. Wanted a Roush, but they want to break it off in you for those cars. I can build a nice one with a Roush blower for $15K less. That's enough savings to build me a new garage and add some value to the house!!!

Nope, no tune update needed; you go in through your SCT 2/3 and adjust the gear ratio that way.

Are you trading the car in since it seems a done deal to get the 5.0? Did you ever take it to Carmax to see what they would offer, esp since your is new/low mileage and under the factory warranty?

Be sure the 373's will be enough with the 6 spd tranny on the 5.0!

Hey Greg-
Not sure what u mean by "go in through your SCT 2/3". I need a tuner to adjust the ratio? If so, that's what I thought. I will need to get a tuner...

I stopped by Carmax they wouldn't tell me anything cause I didn't have the car there. The young noodle-head behind the desk didn't seem to even want to pay attention when I tried to tell him the car is showroom with 1300 miles... and I have hi res photos on my laptop along with the original window sticker.

So I got more out of the dealer for the trade plus they are swapping my rims to the new car since the rims on the 12 are fuuuuugly.

Drove a stock new GT 6spd at the dealer with the 3.73s and it was almost scary fast. Plenty for me and I'm not going racing, just sneakin' around the streets:naughty1:. With 3.73 at 65 mph w/6MT it's turning ~1950 RPM.

What kind of miles on those gears Earl, and hopefully they are factory or FRPP? I will be passing ur way Thursday on my way back to Norfolk.

Is a tune needed for gear change?
They are the good FRPP gears and have about 1500 miles on them. I changed to 3.27 gears for the turbos. You will need an SCT tuner to change for the gear ratio, or you may be able to talk Ford into flashing your computer as they offer the 3.73's as stock now. If you're interested shoot me a PM.

Ahhh...forgot you did not have a handheld SCT 2/3 since you did not install anything!

What gears are in the car you are looking at?

Understand your frustration with Carmax but there is no way they could make you an offer without it being there in front of them...just imagine how many calls they take a day with "hey man, how much is my car worth"!

I think the 12 has stock MT ratio. 3.31?? Since anything else would be listed on the window sticker under "Optional Equipment". I.E. 3.55, 3.73....

I wasn't just calling up Carmax saying "hey man, how much is my car worth?" I was there, in front of them, well prepared, with my laptop full of hi-res photos, and a folder full of all the paperwork ready to give detailed information. It wasn't like the guy was busy, there was 2 customers in the whole place.
If it was me, and someone walked in and said they have a Mustang GT with only 1300mi, and they had a laptop and paperwork in hand, I'd take 2 minutes to see if they got something I could make money on! If yes, after the 2 minutes, then I'd say ok, now go and bring the car in so i can take a closer look. I didn't expect much, their loss. Soory for the rant...

I do have an SCT Livewire tuner for the 10, but I don't think it covers the 11-12 5.0.... I better make sure before I let the tuner go!

I hear you on the Carmax thing but until they can put eyes on the target there is no way they can give an offer.

I don't see why the tuner would not work on the 11/12's, as long as the plug into the OBD II port they should work....you should have to un-marry it from the 10 but that that should be it.
