URGENT LEGISLATIVE ALERT: THE CAR HOBBY NEEDS YOUR HELP

Bill to Provide for Single License Plate Introduced in Virginia Legislature

Virginia legislation (S.B. 771) prefiled in the legislature for 2013 proposes to reduce the number of license plates furnished by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to registered motor vehicles. Under the bill, favored by state hobbyists, the DMV would issue only one license plate (rather than two) and require the single plate to be attached to the rear of the vehicle.

We Urge You to Contact Members of the Senate Transportation Committee (Contact Info Below) Immediately to Request Support for S.B. 771

S.B. 771 would apply to every registered motor vehicle, semitrailer or trailer, including hobby cars such as antique, reconstructed and replica vehicles.

S.B. 771 would protect the aesthetic contours of collector cars and relieve vehicle owners of the burden of having to create mounting holes on fabricated bumpers, etc.
DON’T DELAY! Please contact members of the Virginia Senate Transportation Committee immediately by phone or e-mail to request their support for S.B. 771.

Please e-mail a copy of your letter to Steve McDonald at [email protected]. Also, please forward this Alert to your fellow car enthusiasts. Urge them to join the SAN and help defend the hobby! Thank you for your assistance.

This has been done every year for a number of years and yet it always gets shot down.

The only thing you can do is hope, but in realtiy nothing is going to change.

After so many times you kinda get burnt out on it and are just kinda over the whole thing.

Kind of like the tint law...every other neighboring state has one standard and then good ole VA has to be different!

It has been tried in the past many times. Sometimes it never makes it out of House. It helps the Police even more now than ever because of the trunk cameras which rely on the front tag being there.

This doesn't sound entirely right and maybe I am wrong. I am pretty sure that those trunk mounted cameras are angled in a way to read both the front and back plate if needed, but mainly focused on the rear plate as EVERY state has required a rear plate but not the case for the front. I was under the impression they are mainly focused on the rear tag as they are driving through traffic passing cars, etc to scan the plates.

It reads both front and rear, you are correct. I didn't phrase it correctly, my fault. A front tags helps it because sometimes the rear tag cannot be scanned when the vehicle makes a turn or backed in a driveway or coming down a one way road. There are a lot of different setups the system can do. I have used them since we first got them. However not since I retired, lol.

On the way into work this morning, I saw Fire Trucks and Police over by H&T Collision off London Bridge Road . Getting closer there was a large hole the size a vehicle would make in the side of the building. The metal was going inward from the damage. Wonder what the story is and if someone broke into the place.

Id like to, but the rents are coming in to town and I doubt prices will be worth the fight.

Would like to, but it will be chaos and high prices
I'm not going for the same reasons. Luckily, at a local shop I found some high cap discontinued mags for one of my Sigs @ $40 each. Messing around on ebay they are going for close to $200. I have one listed and its already at $90.

Is anyone going to brave the chaos at this weekends gun show in Hampton?

I attempted this yesterday, got there about 10:00 and they had stopped letting people in because they were at capacity. waited around til almost 11 and decided to break for lunch. Ran into some guys there that had gotten in and said it wasn't worth the wait.

Should have them this week. Had to get the old lady a birthday gift first. I'm hoping to be ready for tuning by the end of Feb. going to be a little short on time with my underway times I have over the next couple of months. Just want to get it done so I have time to enjoy it before i deploy this summer.

At the gun show, avoid the line, hangout at the front doors and wait for someone to walk out and then walk in, took 5 mins for me. The closed it due to capacity so we just did that and went right in.

Can anyone use 6 quarts of Royal Purple 5W-20. I still have this leftover from the mustang and I am tired of looking at it. Make me a fair and reasonable price on it and come get it.

I still have stock parts left over, bumper, BULLITT H pipe with cats, fuel rails, and more.
