How do I get it out?

I pulled the starter and motor mount on the passenger side to get to the bottom header bolts. Taking the second to last one off and it slipped out of my fingers, bounced off my hand and went straight into the hole for the starter and down into the tranny.

Tell me I can fish this out and don't need to drop the tranny!

I am going to do that in the morning. I sure hope I can get it out....

It seems like I should be able to. I tried running a magnet on the bottom of the tranny but no luck. We will see what happens tomorrow

Plus there is a small hole in the bottom of the bell housing that you could easily get the bolt out there. Good luck like ^ he said no biggie. Breathe.

+1 on the magnetic pickup tool. I just bought a flexible one from Sears yesterday because I dropped a bolt working on my truck. It was wedged into the steering knuckle, but after working it for about 5 minutes, I finally got it out.

The flexible ones are the shit!

If you have to, jack the back end up more so the bolt is more prone to going to the front of the tranny. Should put it against the dust shield.

Thanks for all the tips guys.

Good to hear mike! I had to shut it down last night after that happened.

I don't think it will be too bad to fish out. We will see

Good luck! I had the same type of scare with the stage 8 locking clip. pulling it off the bolt that sucker popped off and I thought it went into the starter hole. luckily it landed under the jack stand. On thing I have learned by putting on long tubes is to seal up all the open holes in the k member and anywhere something can fall.

me too! got it all put back together and started it with open headers....sounded like a top fuel dragster ha!

All that work, all day long...and one short sentence? You MUST be tired!

...cams, headers, Ford Racing intake, motor mounts...and it runs! Not bad for a day's work. :thumb2:

LOL you enjoying the gears? I had them do mine yesterday, just awesome.

yeah I love the gears. I can't wait to see how it does with all the other stuff I just put on. You did? How do you like them? STP is solid!

yeah, VERY tired. My hands feel like I put them in a wood chipper.

I am pretty pumped to drive it with open headers to the exhaust shop today though
