Ok i am dumb, i looked at THP one more time since you guys keep bringing it up and i did not notice their single turbo kit. All i noticed was their twin kit which was closer to the price of the TVS. Their single kit looks really good and is making me rethink my decision about Powerhouse. The price for both kits comes around the same but for the price of the Tuner kit from Powerhouse i get 39# injectors, Jet Hot coated piping, tuner (even though i dont need it), and their upgraded intercooler on the THP kit.

When I was thinking about going turbo I called THP on a used kit I found on this forum that was theirs. He treated me as if I was asking about a brand new kit of his.Answered all my questions about his product and offered support to me even if I bought it used.He left an impression on me for sure.

I made 513 rwhp@8 psi on my THP single 61mm kit. JIm@ THP is a grey and helpful guy.

Stainless steel > jet hot coated mild steel > mild steel.

I know that SS is better but doesn't Jet Hot keep the temps down since SS would basically be bare metal heating up where the Jet Hot ceramic would be a layer of heat protection? Atleast thats the way i see it, i might be wrong.

And blacks197, if your doing that with the 61mm and i want to upgrade to the 67mm would end up being a better choice in the end?

I was about to go 67mm or bigger then decided I needed a 5.0 instead. Call Jim and let him know what kind of power you want and he will set you up with the right size turbo.

Just got an email back from him. I think he just sold me on the kit. Everything i wanted except the GT500 fuel set up, TC, and shortblock, he is adding onto the kit for less than powerhouse. I am talking THP basic kit which includes HPX MAF (which i was going to get anyways), 39# injectors (which i would of had to source with other companies tuner kits), and basic tune. Plus i would also be getting Upgraded intercooler, 67mm turbo, and TiAl 44mm wastegate for just a hair over Powerhouse tuner kit price and a much better set up than the Hellion kit. Heck i might even try the kit out first before i build the shortblock and just keep it at low boost and see what it will run.

THP. Blow through, goes over a-arms, starts with a precision 62mm turbo.

Sounds right, but if your Jet Hot coating is compromised (knicked, scratched, gouged, etc) then the mild steel piping can start to rust. With a daily driver and salt on the roads in the winter I didn't take the chance.

I would go stainless and wrap the pipes yourself with some thermal wrap like Thermo Tec. Coatings are more visual than anything although they have some thermal barrier properties, just not much..

started talking a little more with jim. He does include a Ford GT fuel pump with his kits but after looking around i was thinking about getting a kit from Lightblade here on the forum consisting of a stock fuel hat and a single Aeromotive Stealth and just ask jim to take the fuel pump out of the kits price. Do you guys think it would be ok to run this on the stock block and 8psi or should i just drop the cash and go straight for the GT500 set up? Or would a dual pump set up from Lightblade be even better?

Lightblade is more than enough in a stock motor...I'd start at 6psi to be safe unless you have money for a motor and If you do buy it now and start at 10psi!

Just saw a few posts earlier where you were already getting a forged SB...Id go overkill on the fuel sys so you won't have to do it twice

I ran my THP kit with 60#,twin gt pumps and a boost-a-pump. Ran between 8-9psi stock block and beat the shit out of that car never had a problem. It's all in the tune. Get a good dyno tune and you should be fine at 8psi

Mike Bowen at Powerhouse makes a quality kit. Great customer service. Alot of those kits are running great times. For the 3v I think the PH kit is the tits.

i have a thp kit. i had some kinks to work through in the front end of the project, but jim was always there to support me time and again. just be sure you inquire about a turbo support bracket, and get a midpipe bracket fabbed up.

my car is an 08, and while the kit had provisions for a hook bracket at the midpipe, my 08 wasnt supported with one. not a big deal. the kit fit MUCH better once i got that bracketry in place.

mild steel vs stainless is all up to user preference. mild steel is more forgiving to the heat cycles of the motor/turbo set up. its also a lot easier to repair than stainless from my research. stainless wont corrode, but if its a cheap grade of stainless it is brittle and will not hold up to the test of time of the heat cycles. again, this is based off research/conclusions ive drawn.

ive had the THP kit on the car for 1 1/2 seasons, and and about 7,000 miles +/-. the power is great. heres my initial dynograph http://imageshack.us/f/252/mattkahn.jpg/ (click on the graph from the link to explode it)the car had about 6000ish miles on it iirc, thp kit with the 61, 60 lbs injectors, twin gt supercar pumps, upgraded fmic, stock mufflers/manifolds, pulies, it still had the intake butterfly plates, and 3.73s on that setup i ran somewhere around low 13s at 119 im no john force haha.

between this year and last, i had 3.31s put in, cmdp, frpp plugs, dynomax 3 in exhaust, (misc stuff;stefs breather catch can, spec 3+ clutch, turbo blanket) and it netted me 467/464 on a different dyno tuned but by the same guy (mike post of dynotune mp).again, im not a track junkie but it ran a 12.70ish at 121 mph still on 8 lbs.

the only things i dont like about the kit; there are a lot of tight fitting spots. im not willing to give up my a/c, and im not looking to relocate the battery anytime soon. the oil filter, and powersteering have been relocated/the kit came with provisions for that. the biggest thing i dislike about the kit is how the turbo is incredibly close to the drivers side cam sensor. i really should wrap it lol but that wont take much time at all once i get around to it. i think with the addition of a tubular k, and wrapping the sensor itll be even more reliable.

im satisfied with the kit, if any part of the kit rots out, im sure ill keep the same design and have a pipe fabbed up in a quality SS. jims kit performs, fairly priced, and his customer service is unsurpassed.

After looking at the install it does not seem all too bad, one question that keeps popping into my head s how did you guys route the oil feed line to the turbo. From my experience with some vortech set ups i am guessing you tapped the oil pan but after looking at the pics i do not see any fittings unless you cant see it in the pic. Or did you get it from the oil filter relocation? And i will ask him about the turbo support bracket, I know my 06 has a mid pipe bracket so the turbo can use that. I was also just thinking about dumping the exhaust out the passanger side since i do not really have to deal with emissions down here in texas.
