HELP: Spindle & Control Arms Shot?

Has anyone here had their spindles "shot"?

Dealership said mine are, and control arms, and want to charge an arm and a leg. Does anyone know if these even wear out, or are they referring to the bushings on the control arms, or tie rods?

It's a big chunck of iron. Unless you had an accident and bent them I don't know how they'd be "shot". Perhaps components such as tie rods, ball joints etc. but don't see how the spindle could be. It's definitely not a wear item!

How many miles on the car and what caused you to take to the dealer?

Absolutely they go bad. The Rear Bushing is a Hydro Bushing so it is liquid filled. Replaced all the time.

Are you thinking of the control arm?

This is a spindle.

I am very well aware of the difference. The OP title says Spindle and Control Arm

Gotcha, I was reading the first sentence that asked about spindles going bad and got a one track mind!
