Ok. Not sure if anyone would have any suggestions but sitting around at work i figured i'd ask and see. So i have a set of aftermarket hids on the car. They run power from the battery with a harness but turn on and off from the stock switch along with all the other lights. Now sometimes, when I turn them off, all the lights shut off minus the hid's. turn the switch on and then off again and they go out. Any idea's to what would be causing the random not turning off with the rest of the lights?
I'll add, i did not cutting of wires or anything. They plug into the stock plugs for the bulb plugs and have their own wires etc.

Are your both your ballasts connected to the stock bulb plugs on either side? In my experience, you only plug one side and it runs a 12V to your other bulb. If I remember correctly, on our cars, it should use the passenger side wire and you leave the driver's side wire unplugged. If both sides are plugged, you may want to try this.

If this isn't it, then I would say your ballasts may be doing something funny. I've never heard of HIDs not turning off, it's usually that they won't fire the first time.

Oh they've worked for a couple months now. It's been kinda random. Sometimes they shut off and sometimes they don't. But when I turn the lights back on and then off they go out. Makes me wonder if i should try unplugging and replugging in and check the ground and power.

In that case I have no idea. I know mine sometimes don't always fire, usually only one side does and switching them off and on fixes it. They've done that on all of my vehicles and the manufacturer said it's probably something up with the ballasts. Not a big enough deal for me to complain really.

Let me know if you figure it out though, your issue is really weird. It may have something to do with the fact that our cars always have power to the lights even with the car off?

there should be a small relay box that comes right off that battery connection.....this relay box can get moisture in it, and the relays can stick, causing the lights to stay on.

+1 sounds like the relay is sticking to me. the relay is just a flood gate for the electricity coming from the batt going to the HID's. the stock wiring that you plugged into on the passenger side just kicks the flood gate open. it also tells it when to cut off. next time it doesn't shut off. pop the hood and tap on the relay and see if they turn off then. it probably needs to be replaced or rebuilt.

Weird, I've never really ever had a relay fail...ever....then again I live in pretty dry climate.

Guessing the OP is in Florida seeing as how his sig says he was tuned by Torq.

So fairly humid climate, plus if its a cheap-o HID kit like mine, the relay is prolly very cheaply made Chinese stuff.
