High speed fan relay keeps blowing need help

Okay I put in a new rad and about a mouth ago now fri my high speed fans stopes working so I checked the relay and it was melted on one of the prongs put in a new relay and it lasted fri night to say night and it did the same thing anyone have any idea what cause this

Take the temp switch (fan high/low) unit off your fan and look at it. The unit that you plug the fan connection into. They have been known to fail. I thought I had a melted one here in my garage but cant find it.

Okay will try that tomorrow do I just take the hole fan back out?we spilled a lot of antifreeze on the fan could that cause this too happen its been working fine can I get a new temp switch if it bad or do I need a hole fan

It just snaps in the fan housing, it is a bugger to get out though. Look at the red wire and see if it is showing and discoloration, if it is then it is most likely toast. Ford part, I think the dealer had it in stock. Good luck.

The connection block in the BEC below the melted relay is probably burnt too, need to check that and the harness.

I was talking too some guys around here they said that my stock fan is too small for the three core rad I put in a mouth ago and that my fan running all the time is getting my relay too hot could that be it bc it's did do it on two hot days this mouth

If you have a bigger radiator you should need less fan......did you look at the temp switch?

No but I orderd a new fan with the resitior..where's the temp switch ill get one too just in case..when we did the rad we spilled a lot of antifreeze on the fan I remover..

The resistor is basically it, that is what controls fan speed...I guess it really isn't technically a switch. Low speed relay runs through the resistor and makes the fan run slower. High speed relay by-passes the resistor and fan runs faster.

Okay installed the fan it came with the resistor too I notice the fan runs a lot when it's warmed up I let te car sit and run and the fan shut off for about three sec and came back on full blast and the relay is really hot..another ? Do I have to bleed the radiatior I just put this in a month ago and all this starts up.if so how to I bleed it??

You don't need to bleed the system. As long as your overflow tank is filled to the cold or hot line as needed, you won't have a problem.

As for the fan running a lot, what do you have the low and high speed fans set at within your tune? As long as your tuner didn't lock the handheld, it should remain as one of the features you can adjust. During one of my tunes way back, the guy set my fans to 160* and 170* since I had a 170* thermostat at the time. Fans ran nearly constant.

Sounds like you may want to look at the fan speed temp settings in the tune like mentioned. But if its a warm day and your sitting still then the high speed fan should be kicking on constantly and running more.

I check the low is 172 and high is 180 that's the lowest they go it will go higher but 170 180 are the lowest I have a 160 thermostat..the relay high speed relay is pretty hot when the high speed fan is running i have it running now

Stock setting are 192 and 212 iirc for reference. I have a reische 170 degree stat my low speed is set to 178 and high is set at 192 works pretty good. These motors like to be at around 180-190 degrees to run good. I forced it cooler for awhile and had misfires and gas mileage goes down quite a bit.
