High miles on modern cars is not 100,000 miles LMAO. High miles is more like 300K and over. Threads like this make me laugh.

Although I agree with you 100% the problem is every bank or lender would disagree with you. For whatever reason the stigma of 100K or over is the standard for which high or low mileage is measured.

The sad truth is that many people stop routine maintenance around 100,000 miles. The cars head south not long after.

Wow. I'm glad to see some of you guys with this kind of mileage. I'm at 114,000 right now and have that nagging feeling of concern wondering how much longer I'll get out of my car.

Don't skimp out on maintenance and it'll last for years!

I will agree that 100K+ is not "high miles" by todays standards, but dang, 300K???? I am not sure if I have ever even seen an odometer in real life that read 300K! LOL

And at 100K plus, it's not so much the engine I would worry about, it's the other stuff breaking.

Thanks for all the feed back, guys. It's nice to be reassured that as long as I take care of it, it'll return the favor.

And yeah, I can see how 100K+ has become a stigma. Although, there are quite a few cars that are notorious for taking a shit at 100K+, it's very true that most people stop taking care of their car at 100K.

Thanks again everyone.

Actually, cars haven't taken a shit at 100K in 30 years. A lot of that has to do with improvements in oil, the rest is improvements in machining tolerances and design. Most of us older guys grew up in a time when the odometers on cars only read 5 digits and 'rolling it over' was a huge milestone.

136+K on my 05 and Still has not ever been in the shop. Stock clutch and everything.

I'd say do your mods and just enjoy it. When things go out just fix them.

My Mother had a 2001 or so MY Accord with about 325K miles on it when she traded it in. And the clutch was the only thing that was ever replaced.

I have 140,000 on my 06 Ranger. I bought it with 33,000 on it. Ended up replacing the heads at 70,000. Valve seats were deteriorating.

New cars that have been maintained, so much isn't the mileage as its age is a factor. Good example is I have a 1994 jeep with 180K on it and my uncle has a 1993 1500 Chevy pickup that has a TBI 350 and only 65K miles on it and he bought it new. Kinda like my jeep, every time you turn around something has gone bad on both vehicles as its mostly always sensors or the accessories like the alternator that has finally failed not anything major on the drive train. I have a small fleet of trucks at work. All of the trucks are 2006 and newer and we keep them to about 150-180K miles and only thing gets changed is the tires, brakes, and oil changes. Our 4.6L triton engines we don't even tune up at 100K miles as there still getting 15.5 MPG since they where new, no check engine lights, passing emission. We got rid of one about 6 months ago with 180K miles with factory spark plugs!

I've had my car for 4.5 years, and while I've yet to have a single problem with it, I do notice small things like body panels flexing a little more, squeaks in the seat, etc.

My mileage is under 50k, only thing that concerns me is all the city driving (I live in DC where we let roads cave in before paving) that I do. It's also the first and only car I've owned (bought new), so I could just be a bit paranoid.

Check out the seals around the doors and trunk also. They're commonly neglected and may already be showing signs of cracking, especially in Texas

A coworker has an old Ranger with 350,000 miles that he bought from the Company we work for. He says it makes some questionable noises but it is a good around town vehicle.

When I sold my 2006 in June 2012 and ordered my 2013 it had 203,000 miles on it - V6 with supercharger and still ran mid 12's. The new owner has over 212,000 on it now.

Definitely reassuring. I appreciate the feedback, guys. I'm taking very good care of it. I'm an Internet Manager at a Ford Dealer, so access to everything I need to keep it well maintained is at my fingertips. :)

If you're not racing it and haven't boosted it, it should last a long time. If you don't drive it much you'll have just as many repairs or more repairs than a higher mileage vehicle such as brakes, battery, etc.
