Someone hit my car at work. I didn't notice the damage until I got home. What sucks is that we rejected uninsured motorist so I have to pay out of pocket. It looks like I need a bumper, RH headlight, and RH fender. If you guys have anything let me know. I'm in Houston. Prefer local. Thanks everyone.

Uninsured Motorist is a no brainer in Los Angeles, where almost 1/3 of the cars out there are not insured.

Moving to chit chat. You could also put this in the for sale section and title it WTB fender, headlight, etc. I have the Right Fender but I am in CA.

Yea we had U/M all the time until a few months ago when we had money issues and were trying to save as much as possible. Lesson learned.

We live in Houston!! You can find pretty much anything on craigslist. Fender and bumper u should buy local cause shipping is expensive. If not try LKQ cause they have decent prices.

I once had a Vette and someone backed into the Passenger side front fender at night.
Did not see the Damage until the Next Day.

Yea Houston drivers really suck man. I was able to find a bumper from a black gt in beumont so I'll go pick that up on sunday. Guy is selling it for $100 so that'll help me quite a bit. I'll look on cragslist for a fender and headlight. Hopefully someone has them. I called LKQ but they have nothing here, only out of state and shipping is ridiculous.

i was browsing through ebay last night and saw 2 stock headlights for sale...i think the auction was up to like $30 or so. didnt keep the link though but a simple search should get you there. good luck

when someone else causes an accident with you, if that person has insurance, their company takes care of everything and you should not be out any money. if the person is uninsured, you have to claim it on your policy obviously or pay directly out of pocket.

you can pay an extra premium on your insurance that will make it not the same as a recorded accident if the person that hits you doesnt have insurance. It usually comes with a smaller deductible than your normal comprhensive insurance deductible and typically wont go on your record.

good point, i always thought that the hit and run as well as the uninsured came as the same add on to an insurance policy but who knows...either way, it is an add on that the insurance companies are gonna add money for. you know they wont pay for anything for free.

I worked insurance for 3 years. Hit and Runs are covered by Uninsured Motorist and/or Other than Collision(comprehensive). However, in the state of texas, you can choose to reject Uninsured Motorist in order to not pay the premium that it comes with. This is what we did. We needed the extra money so we chose to reject the coverage. In any state in the U.S. the only coverage needed is LIABILITY. Full coverage aka Comprehensive and Collision isn't required, yet if you are financing a car (and don't want the bank/financier to repo it) you need to have full coverage.

I don't know who hit my car. It happened when I was inside a store and didn't notice the damage until later when I got home. I guess the good thing is that now you and I know that Uninsured Motorist is definitely worth the premium.
