Huge difference after TPS change

Long story short, my throttle position sensor started really acting up a couple weeks ago and it finally went out on Friday. Got one of the new updated ones from a local ford dealer. Turned out that one was bad (first new ford part I ever bought that was bad) so they had to order another one. Got it this morning and after putting it on, what a complete difference. The car had been feeling a little different over the past 6-8 months, but it wasn’t constant. Some days, felt great, others it was just a little off. The throttle response was a little lagged and just didn’t feel “right”. I’m paranoid after having so much money invested in the car so I always think something is wrong. Anyways, the car is back to running great. Even better than the good days before. I never realized electrical components could wear out like that. I always assumed it was an all or nothing, unlike something mechanical. I guess you really do learn something new every day.

That's very good news... but I totally hear what you mean with the wear of a component like this sensor. Unlike something like shocks that wear gradually, you'd guess that a sensor would either work or it wouldn't. Evidentially, there is another variable at work.

In any case, congrats on a successful fix. How are those shocks feeling?

Shop next door I hangout at occasionally had a f250, nearing a stop the steering wheel cut hard left and pedal shuddered. I googled it for him and it was showing wheel speed sensor cutting out at low speeds. Didn't throw any codes for it. But it made the ABS go apeshit under 5-10 mph, but nothing at any other speeds. Weird stuff

I had noticed a lot of lag recently in the throttle response. Power seemed a bit off, but i honestly just thought I was going crazy. I don’t beat on my car very often so I didn’t think much of it (kind of a waste of having a built motor until I get a power adder).

Finally on Thursday the car went into fail-safe mode. Got home and shut the car off. Let it sit for a second then turned it back on, everything was fine and no CEL. Figured I’d check anyways and sure enough, there was a code. Something like “throttle position sensor A B voltage correlation”. Went for a spirited drive after the gym today and what a difference. It was such a gradual wear down that I didn’t notice, but I forgot just how much fun my car was to drive lol
