The motor is the main reason I want a new 5.0, I'm just not willing to go into debt another 30k in order to get it. There are plenty high mileage 3v's, people with 130k + that still do fine. My plan is to wait a few years until there's more used coyote's available and pick one up. Remember how quickly the 3v motors dropped in price over the years, now you can pick up a complete used long block for what 1500?

If all you are worried about is the motor then yes, build it or slap in 5
0 but for the price of a new one you will get the full package. The 2011 interior is so much better than the previous S197s and if you are also looking to get that newer body style then its a no brainer if you have the funds. I understand there are those people that just want that power but I'm a fan of the whole package.

That's where I am. I wanted a whole new car. I love the new interior.

the motor, the body, the interior... i want it all. The mileage and lack of extra cash to fix the car if something goes wrong is the final straw.

I ran the numbers and it would save around $3000-4000 to build a 3v car over buying a low mile used GT500 and doing a pulley swap/tune. This assumes the 3v would sell for 16-18,000.

The difference is you have the TR6060 in the GT500 and -0- labor on a build. Is that worth the 3-4 grand? Personally I think it is.

I think its always cheaper to build up what you already have. I don't think that's always the best idea. :)

It is certainly debatable. Some people love doing their own work and have the tools and know how. I like working on the car up to a point but an entire motor swap is over my head and would take frickin forever. Therefore I'm not gonna sink any more substantial money into this car unless I blow it up. In a few years I wanna sell and get a 2014 GT or lightly used GT500 instead.

I've never done a motor swap on a rwd platform. But I plan on keeping the 3650 and just bolting up the coyote engine (like mattd has done). If it's anything like the honda swaps, it's a cake walk. As time goes on I think you'll see more and more people do it to the point where it will become common.

I definitely agree on it becoming common

It all depends on one's financial situation. If someone has money to blow and doesn't mind taking a hit on depreciation in order to upgrade, then so be it I suppose.

I like the engine. I just can't go with that rear end, can't do it. aqlso, the fact that i have barely even driven my 06 gt enough to really enjoy it. Have another pos car that I use for here and there.
