That's why I think it's a flow problem. Actually, how big is the reservoir for the intercooler?
edelbrock stock reservoir. maybe that could be one issue.. flow is definitely a concern. .. maybe I'm pulling in to much heat from the engine instead of cool air

IIRC it's not very big. So you don't have a lot of reserve cooling. Along with not enough flow. Going to a bigger tank might help a little.

What HE do you have installed ? Does it have fans ? Is it shrouded ? What are the aprx dimensions ?
Does it get hit by air from the lower grille only...or upper only...or both ?

The Edelbrock IC is big.....and it's job is to extract heat. The HE's job is to dump that extracted heat
( to the air). If the HE can't dump the heat quick enough, a bigger pump will just circulate hot water. It's all one loop.

What would work is water- meth injection.... or a bigger HE... like the 13/14 GT-500. With the 13/14 GT-500 HE, then the mating 13/14 GT-500 IC pump would be of benefit.

A bigger de-gas bottle would also help.

He does't need water-meth injection. His temps are bad because of some problem with his loop, or an inadequacy of parts in his loop. Water-meth injection would be an expensive bandaid.

it's a no name brand. local guy makes his own and it seems good also it's getting air from the bottom.
with the edelbrock HE I was getting temps of 189 and it droped quite a bit. I need to go down a little more.
I'm thinking a bigger reservoir and try to get more air to my CAI

Most of the research I've seen shows there isn't much difference between outside and the engine bay once the car is moving. Even then once the air moves through the intake track and blower it's going to heat right back up. FWIW the temps I posted earlier are with the filter in the engine bay and a heat shield. Which I really doubt does anything. When you look into the reservoir does it look like the coolant is circulating pretty good?

The Roush de-gas bottle is pretty big, almost 1 gallon. Coolant enters the top portion.... then exits out the bottom. With lid off the de-gas, he should be able to see coolant flowing pretty fast. With my Bosch 4 gpm IC pump, I estimated aprx 2 gallons of coolant in the entire loop. At 4 gpm flow rate, it takes 30 secs to circulate...once.

What is the HWD of the..'no name' HE ? Is it single / dual pass, dual core ? Is it tube + fin design... or bar + plate ?

He may well have air trapped in the loop. I vac filled the loop...ditto with eng
coolant.

I suggested water / meth injection...as a last resort, if all else fails.
