Hey guys, well todays the day where I might actually get that mustang i've been trying to get since i joined here sometime ago....And i have a question.

I know most intakes are similar but which one is the best without a tune? I plan on tuning it in the future, but I won't have the money just yet and I want a little more response to the gas. I was thinking k & N but i'm really not sure.

Also, I searched, but so many threads came up i just got more confused. Thanks for the help.

if i was you ill wait a little longer to get both intake and tuner.you will actually get more power out of a tune alone than an intake be itself.

I have to agree with these guys... I wanted to go the route of just getting a CAI without the tune, but after a lot of reading and debating, it is way better to get both at the same time. You get a better CAI, plus you will get more than the 5 - 10 boost that a CAI will give you alone of you are lucky.

I know that it sucks to wait (if money is an issue), but I am hoping that my patience will pay off!

Intakes by themselves have been know to cause lean codes in these cars as well. Unless you're going with an intake with an insert to prevent these codes(what's the point), you will probably need a tune the same time you get the intake. The most popular intakes are the CNL and JLT.

I'm running a C&L street intake w/ a no tune insert. I definitely feel a difference over the stock airbox and it gives it a neat waaaaa sound when you step on the gas. I put it on right after I bought my car and wasn't ready to change the stock tune. The nice thing about it is you can remove the insert when you're wanting to get more power or can finally afford a tuner.

the s&b intake i think is the most versatile around...its 90mm but has the insert, its in a sealed box with a reuseable filter and looks great, i have wanted one for a while but i got a great deal on a frpp drag pac and i didnt pick one up

they are relatively cheap and they are made of plastic so they dont heat up too much

aight, will do. How easy is it to load and reload the tuner? because i rather not void the warranty. I didn't get it today...they wouldn't give me enough for my trade.

I ran the Roush/Airaid intake with the insert and no tune for a while. Once I got my tuner I yanked the insert out and put a tune in for the 100mm MAF. I never had any problems with it with or without the insert.

This right here is your best option. The C&L with the no tune insert, then when you are ready for a tune just take the insert out. PM me if i can help you with anything.

If i get this mustang, or any one in general, I'm gonna go n/a, this will only be my second car, and it may take me some time to adjust to a stick + a lot of power, so i will probably go in stages, and hope for around 335 to the wheel, and mid to hi 12s in the quarter

I got the K&N 1st and noticed a little improvement and then I got a mail tune to go with it and noticed a lot more. If I did it again I would have gotten one that needed a tune. As it is I got the Whipple, so all that money was wasted..
