Just installed a Whipple, right now the problem I'm having is not at idle (which is fine) but eratic throttle response. I'll slightly press the gas petal and it will shoot from 800 straight to 2500-3k. Would this be my TPS going bad? I'm trying to pin point it so I don't spend more money on something thats not wrong.

Which throttle body are you using?

I can't imagine the TPS going out, have you checked the extension and confirmed you've got a good connection?

I had a couple throttle issues with mine immediately after installing the blower and having it dyno tuned. All of my issues were in the tune and were all eventually resolved. Now my throttle acts perfectly, just as it did before the blower.

Contact your tuner.

I'm just using the stock GT500 that came with the kit. Its real jerky, like I said it idles just fine but once I start pressing on the gas pedal it jumps.

Is it jerky?

My belt routing was off, and I noticed it right away with the jerky throttle.

Can you post up pics of your engine bay so I can take a look at the install and see if anything jumps out at me. I am very familiar with the Whipple/Roush kits and can practically do the install without even cracking open the instructions.

Also, are you 6MT or 6AT? What tune are you using?

If I'm not mistaken most of the cars I've flash tuned when you start them for the first few times the idle will lunge like that until the cpu relearns all the new parameters.

its a 6 MT, I'm remote tuning through Amazon. I did receive a base tune from fastlane that was doing the same thing. Both had the same characteristics, good idle and erratic throttle response. It is like surging.

I was thinking about adding the Ford Racing throttle body. If the throttle body is the issue that would give me a reason for the upgrade.

Ok, two things jumped out at me right away. One is major, the other is more aesthetics than anything. The minor one is the breather from the drivers valve cover to the intake is backwards. Very minor.

The major one is the ground at the front of the passenger side of the valve cover. This may be what is causing your issues. I can tell from this ground that your car is either a late '11 or '12 5.0. Unfortunately the Whipple kits do not account for this change with the FEAD bracketry. What I do to secure the ground is to drill out the o ring terminal a little and secure it under the head of the bolt on the timing chain cover.

I've reattached your pic with the 2 items circled in red. Get the wire grounded and let me know how you make out from there.

Good catch Chuck on the ground strap.

That's your issue.

Flip that hose though.

I may have an issue with my throttle body or the TPS. Attached is a picture were is shows the missing plastic bolt and spring (have the spring and rod). Second is downshifting which is probably associated with the spring as thhe RPMs will not lower when downshifting rather stay until I press down on the clutch. I'm going to take the throttle body in to a local shop and see if that may be the problem other than the spring.
Still a little erratic, not as bad after putting in the the ground.

yeah, that missing piece is a big issue. That is something that should NEVER be touched, period. I have a couple GT500 throttle bodies laying around that I could sell you. PM me if want a price on one.

Did you buy the GT500 TB complete or did you transfer over the electronics? When the internal spring in the actuator is not clocked properly (3 turns) you get TB issues...
