my best 1/8 mile time tonight was a 8.29
1.86 60'
85.41mph

they were only allowing 1/8 runs to start because the wind was blowing so hard

best 1/4 time
12.92 @ 107
1.95 60'
8.32 1/8 @ 85.42 mph

car weighs 3575 with me in the driver's seat

with the mods in my sig. temps were fairly cool, probably mid to low sixties, low humiditiy...at least for san antonio

and then i hear about guys with nothing but a jlt cai, 355 gears, nitto drag radials and a tune and they run a 12.5 @ 109

does anyone else have trouble with this?

what rpm do you launch at?

what rpm do you shift at?

do you powershift?

BTW, i have never seen a stang with dr's and cai and tune run a 12.5. no way.

best 60' was launched at 3500

powershift 2nd and 4th at about 64 to 6500

3rd gear i just quik shift as fast as i can, don't have the huevos to powershift 3rd

here, look at this

i guess it's possible, but i have a hard time with it

i forgot, he has lt's....it still seems awfully quick to me, congrats to him, it just seems really dang fast for the mods he's got

Well i went from running 12.40 last year to a 11.80 my first day out this year. The biggest difference was in the launch.

Two new things were i have a new clutch, and a new LSD, the clutch packs on mine were wore out at the end of the year last year, if you watch videos of my runs only one tire was spinning on the burnouts and that strarted happening a lot towards the middle of the summer.

But i actually have a couple less mods then i did last year.

Last year i always launched at like 3000, i just thought it spun to much at any higher rpm.

First time out this year i ran a 12.13 and 12.14 basically driving the car like i did last year. with 1.8x 60s

So then after watching Justin run an 11.78 and 11.79 with 1.702 60s in it and knowing that i was already shifting at 6500 and powershifting i knew the only difference was the launch. I tried 5k and focused on not being to fast comeing off the clutch, and got a 1.71 60 and a 11.88.

good luck, my guess is you need to work on your foot work on the launch like me, your actually bogging the car probably and hooking to much and thats killing your times. Just a guess. I mean on that 1.71 60 my tires were spinning a little bit the whole way through first, but it was still a much better 60 then the lower rpm luanch where the car bogged.

well i went to the 4.33's so i wouldn't have to manipulate the clutch so much. as far as the guy i'm talking about, i mean look at the mph..109...that's just seems awfully fast for the mods he posted. to boot, he'd have to cut a whale of a good time with those 3.55 gears...i guess it is the driver mod though...just hard to accept i suppose

With nsr stage II cams i traped 112s. But i dynoed at 350 then. Your dynoing at 320, the shorty's are not helping you, the airaid cai im not sure about that. Your hp isnt that high really, without the cams and long tubes i was at 310rwhp with bolt ons. People can say the dyno number are high, the mph was there for it.

i've wondered about the airaid, it's like 105mm, probably a little too big for low end torque purposes. i should probably have had it tuned with the insert installed. been considering long tubes, just need to pay the m/c down some more before i buy a set.

People like to conveniently forget things too.

I ran 12.9 bone stock!! Oh yeah I removed the backseat, the pass. seat, there was 30 mph tailwind and the DA was -1200 feet.

i just gotta say, i really question some of the claims i see regarding e.t.'s and mph, that's all. i mean i spent a lot of money to run what i run, and my 60' times aren't great, but not all that bad either. i just have a hard time believing a 109 mph with the mods listed in the other thread. must be a miracle car factory freak, or perhaps a downhill track, or tailwind, or something......and all that leaving the line with a 3.55 gear...

Cams take a little getting used to, even my 'mini' cams...

I ran 12.6 last race of season, now 12.2's

Takes a getting used to...

Unless I see the runs or know credible people who've seen such runs, I don't really believe all the claims. Some people I guess just have to stretch the truth a little, like it gives them bigger balls or something. Just tell it like it is.

The guys I run with run their otherwise stock GTs and with a CAI/tunes and some with the same and similar tires, and they'll run between mid 13s and low 14s, depending on the driver; but that's with stock 3.31 gears for the most part.

With your gears and power and cams, you should be seeing better I would think. Hell I'm at a similar power level with 373s and run 12.8s with 1.95 60' times.

(the recent cold/windy weather didnt help...ok well for us Texans, it was cold.)

I ran a 12.57 @ 109 with the few mods in my sig and stock gears. Here's the timeslip below. Weight reduction was passenger seat and front sway bar removed. Also was at Atco raceway, Amazing times at that track!

A few well thought out performance, suspension, and traction mods, a good driver mod, and a well prepped track can work wonders with the e.t. and mph for these cars. Throw in a strong tailwind and mineshaft air, and the numbers start bordering on the unbelievable.
