I recently noticed that my stock crank pulley with around 115k miles was wobbling a little bit, so I bought a set of Steeda Underdrive pulleys. When I took off the old OEM balancer, I noticed the rubber on the back had ripped, so it was bad, but after I finished installing the Steeda undrive pulleys and started the car, when I walked to the engine, there was a knocking noise that sounded like it was coming from the crank pulley. The car is cammed(hotrod), and it was knocking with the chop of the idle at first, but then it became random. At first, it came and went, then after knocking for like 30 seconds, it quieted down, and I thought maybe something was hitting and it was self-clearancing itself, but the noise came back. The pulley is also spinning straight, so I can see anything that's making the noise. I can't hear it from the driver's seat with the windows down and the hood up, so it's not that loud, but very noticeable when standing in front of the engine with the hood popped. I installed it by the book. I got a NEW OEM crank washer and bolt and torqued it the ay ford recommends, and I also cut the alternator stud to clear the water pump pulley. This all happened today, and I haven't driven the car yet. I was planning on just driving it till the weekend, and if it's still making noise, then I'll take the pulley off, check if I can see any obvious signs of something touching and grinding it down. If anyone has had this issue and found out why or a solution, their input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
