Kooks Customer service stinks

Purchased new Kooks LT's and Catt'd X-Pipe from Brenspeed, Kooks drop shipped it to my house, the shit is only two months old and the cats are junk, rattling/loose, I've been trying to deal with Kooks for weeks now, they'll replace the cats no problem, all I have to do is send them back, my problem is, I think they should sell me a new set, so I don't have to keep my car down for weeks while I wait for them to replace the cats, and when they get my cats in the mail to refund my money for the purchased set of cats, is it to much to ask for them to come up with some way to keep my car on the road? I even ask to purchase a set of off road pipes from them w/o the x-pipe section and they won't sell them. I could understand if this shit was old, but come on two months?? you would think when you pay this kind of money you would get better service, not asking for anything free here, just want to keep my car up and running....

You are not the first one to complain about Kooks custom service nor have an issue with the cats...

I guess you are still deciding on whether or not you want/need my off road X to hold you over?

Just got off the phone with them again, I still can't believe Kooks will not just sell me the the Off road section, or cats without the X-Pipe, if nothing else to keep a customer happy, I'll never buy anything form Kooks again, in this case YOU DO NOT get what you pay for... what a shit ball company.....

^as do I. Mine expired last month as a matter of fact. And by last month I mean May. I've been looking for someone to just take some extra cash and give me the damn sticker.

Fast64ranchero I hope you read this before it gets removed since we are not a paying sponsor on this site. We here at Kooks Custom Headers stand behind what we produce 100% but we have company protocols in place to handle certain situations such as yours. There are always two sides to every story. I have looked into this situation that you are experiencing personally. First we issued a call tag to your original dealer where you purchased the product from that is company policy. We have a warranty policy in place this is right from our site.

Catalyst Converters
• The high flow race cats that Kooks Custom Headers use with all of their Complete Exhaust Systems come with a 2 year limited replacement warranty. The Catalyst in question will need to have an RGA number issued to it by the dealer which sold the product, which will then be shipped back to Kooks Custom Headers. The cost of freight will be the customer’s responsibility. Once the product is received by Kooks, it will be evaluated to determine the reason for failure. If cause of failure is determined to be a tuning issue or impact damage the claim will be denied. If it is a defective part that caused the failure then the said Catalyst will be replaced and shipped back to consumer at no charge. If it is determined to be an issue other then part failure then we can offer a cat replacement program at a discounted rate.

Know I believe that should shed some light on your situation. Since reading your email I have called your original dealer and was informed that you did receive a price on part number 6024-conn off road front connection pipes only and you told them at this time you neither were nor interested in going that route. I can not believe that one of our sales people would tell you that we do not offer a part that we sell on a daily basis. But I am not done looking into that matter and when I do get to them bottom of that I will handle that appropriately. I think this whole situation is being brought on by miscommunication.
My man concern at this time is to get your situation handled in a manner where you the client is happy and also is company compliant. bigray327 I do not understand the response to your first quote.

Second the reason we do not sponsor this site. Is site sponsorship has to be worked into our advertising budget. If we were to sponsor every web forum we would have nothing left in the budget to do anything else throughout the year. There are so many forums out there these days.

Without quoting your whole post, yes I was given a RGA # last week, (this has been ongoing for over three weeks), and yes Brenspeed did offer to sell me the Off road section for $380.00 do you really think I should pay $380 for those two pieces??? Would you???? come on two short pieces of tubing with one slight bend and a O2 bung welded in???? remember I already purchase your headers and cats once already, and your company tells me I have to buy more?? Hell I can buy Greg's whole Off raod X-Pipe for $260 shipped, bottom line, you guys at Kooks have Failed in the Customer relations department, (This time anyway!!!) I truely believe the only reason you want to talk to me at all, is the fact I linked this post to the email. feel free to use the search button, you'll find I'm not the only one around to have issues with your cats, I can't speak for everyone, but I do not believe my tune is to blame for them coming apart.

I will say, your headers are TOP NOTCH! I have seen no mass produced header finer, Now get your cats and Customer service up to that level and you'll have something to be proud of.... Just a Thought....

Walt I do appreciate the kind words but I think again it is a miscommunication problem on all parties. You can go right to our website and see that part number 6024-conn retails for 250.07. I think the price you were quoted was on the entire x pipe. Not just the front pipes. If you want please call me at my office so we can figure out a solution to your problem. And yes the only reason I am on here is because you linked it on your email if you did not do that I would have not known about it and have not been able to address it on a public forum

I hear you... But is that not what they told boozshey and a few others on this board? Tuning issues were the problem?

Is that so hard to believe that when you run a car to fat on the dyno during tuning and wash down the cats then they fire it is a controlled explosion in the body of the cat. To educate you the next time you run your car take a thermal gun and record the temps of the cats to the rest of the exhaust. The cats are the hottest part of the system. A catalyst is basically a controlled burn to burn off hydrocarbons if there is raw fuel in there you can just imagine the outcome. Hope this helps

Kooks has stepped up and offered to sell me the Off Road sections I wanted at a fair price, when the test pipe sections come in, I'll install them and send my cats back for evaulation/replacement, I have a new 3" magnaflow cat back system to install at the same time, I also want to thank this forum for allowing the thread to continue until resolved.
