locking converter in 3rd gear

what is the down side to having the converter locked in 3rd gear for DD.i know through some searching that the factory converter locks in 4th and 5th.i read people having it locked in 3rd as well after installing a different converter.
would this cause more wear and tear on the transmission?this is not a PI is a converter from chris at ptc.by the way thanks chris for all your help,you have been amazing to do business with.

My '07 GT is a daily driver and my converter is tuned to lock-up in 3rd through 5th. The benefit is higher trap speeds in the 1/4 mile (about 2-3 mph in my case). It has not affected drivability at all, and really helps at WOT.

Good thread, i just called chris about getting my converter to lock up earlier for track duty

Going to 1/2 second really helped my trap speed, but it's a bit annoying for daily driving, which is why I recommend 1 second for your DD tune (1/2 second for the race tune).

I faced some problem on my stock converter on 4th gear at 5100 RPM , having like (cut fuel) only when the O/D off , the RPM returned to 4900 and continue normally. so I've told: that's from the converter something called (converter lock) and it can bee fixed by tuning. so it fixed but at the same gear & RPM now ,the timing goes from 25 to 21 degree . (don't have detonation) I don't know what's wrong ?!?!?!

(25 degree cuz it's a Nitrous tuning)
