Loud noise from rear...

So I have done some research on this possible issue and can't seem to find what I am looking for, so maybe someone here can help me. I have a 2011 GT Auto, it is built in 04/2010 so I know there are TSB's out for the car and hopefully this issue. Only when I am at low speeds (15 mph or less) and when the tranny is shifting, I can hear a loud almost crashing noise coming from the rear. The best way I can describe it is it sounds similar to a backfire, or almost like there is something dropping out of the rear. A sort of loud metal popping noise. Sorry for my awful descriptions. I have heard that this may be the driveshaft, but if anybody can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it. I am taking the car to the dealer soon and I am still under warranty, but I would like to be able to tell them exactly what the issue is rather than have them poking and prodding around for hours. Thanks again.

Mike

First off, going to need a bigger pic of those titties in your avatar.
Secondly, have you checked back there to see if your panhard bar or swaybar mounts are loose or hitting something?
Maybe even the over axle pipes.

Yes to all of those. And when it happens I am going VERY slow and allowing the car to downshift on its own and right when it gets to the point where it is going to downshift and its starting to that's when I hear it. Flat surface the majority of the time too. It doesn't sound like something is loose or metal on metal it is a distinct almost crashing noise. I really wish I could describe it better.

Wish I had a bigger pic of those titties for myself! lol

Not sure what you mean by a shuffle. It's just a loud "thunk." It has done it since I've owned the car. It does it very intermittently, not all the time so it's hard to replicate and pinpoint because I don't know when it is going to happen and it happens quick.

A shuffle would be clunk, clunk, clunk, and you would feel the car stutter. Is it just a one time bang and it's over for awhile?

if you search google for that image youll find a slightly larger version, and gif's. however it seems to be from a material not allowed on this site, if you catch my drift

Bruce, it is a one time bang then it is over for a while. I can't tell if it's a stutter because the car is simultaneously downshifting about 99% of the time it happens, but it definitely pulls back a little.

Put the rear of the car up on jacks have a friend run it through the gears and pin point the exact noise location, if its inside your rear you will have to take it apart and find the source.

I wish I could do that, but I do not have jack stands or even a friend over here who has them. I am thinking I am most likely going to have the dealer do that. I was hoping someone here has had this issue before and knew what it was. I know my description is not very good, but there is honestly no other way I can describe it.
