So after reading many posts about this, I go to do it. To my utter amazement, I find neither the fill nor drain plugs look anything like in all the posts. The drain is not on the bottom but on the side corner near the bottom, and the filler looks like this picture I took of it once it was out. Both have standard hex heads, not Allen type. I'm pretty sure they are the plugs, because they are marked with a splash of red paint, and there is nothing like in all the posts visible. Anyone else see this?

I thought i deleted this post. It was a symptom of my increasing dementia. Sorry for my idiotic wasting band width. FWIW, I did figure out how my brain had dysfunctioned and replaced the fluid with BG Syncroshift--sadly, to little improvement. Will be adding the Fomoco XL 18 when it gets here. Probably won't help either. Love the car--hate the transmission. Works fine if you only shift slowly and gently--but where's the fun in that?

Throw your statins away ;) Worst manual I ever had was/is a Mercedes manual transmission. No way to fast shift, when it is freezing impossible to get into 2nd, the grease on the splines gets pushed away when hot and the pedal feel is like squeezing a rubber boat and from 1st to 2nd it feels like a luxated shoulder joint :)
