I'll have to look at this too as my drifts aren't staying how I like them....that being said I'm also using Poorboys Wheel Sealant or Smartwax Rimwax I got on special for $5 a tub ;)

how easy is opti-coat to spread evenly the first time? i have a set of piano black F14s waiting to go on when I'm back in the states and want to keep them as pristine as possible. the fact that if i mess up applying the opti-coat, i will have to use an abrasive to fix it sounds a little scary. the last thing i want to do is mess up the finish with my polisher.

Very, you have about 2-3 minutes before it starts curing, to level it.

Reading all of this makes me want to go with a 5 star style wheel as opposed to a drift or RTR multi-spoke style.

I just got some matte black Drifts and have been wondering about caring for them, what about just keeping them washed regularly and putting some Meguiar's D155 Last Touch Detail Spray on them? I figured this might help to keep them cleaner and easier to wash as well.

Re-read this thread.

The detailer may keep them slightly cleaner for a couple days but unless you use a product like opti coat, you need to use a product such as rimwax or wheel sealant to keep them looking good; preferably applied every wash.
