Metal flakes in my catch can!?

That chain movement doesn't look excessive; the brand new FRPP chains/phasers I put in had that much play. That cam lobe doesn't look too pretty to me but I don't see any material actually missing from it. Those marks could be from the roller on the follower skidding against the lobe instead of rolling. I would also look for flakes/particles inside the cylinder head down below the cams where the oil collects before draining down. And check the cam bearing caps! You could have a galled bearing surface on one or more of them. I would also suggest an oil analysis.
