Mantel is white. Not sure if we want to paint it a different color or not yet. We'll decide once it's up

That's what I was thinking too. Might have to give that a try in a couple of weeks if we dont like the white. All of our baseboards are white so I think the white mantel
Might look good also.

can't decide if we should buy the surround wood pieces that go with the mantel and fill in the area between the fireplace and surround with the stone, or just keep the mantel alone and fill in all the face of the fireplace with stone????
now i see the white. lol. It should look good either way.

Where have you been?

Been pretty busy lately with other things but did manage to finish up a few things. First is the front yard. Got the redwood in and planted a couple of shrubs. Also got some solar powered led lantern lights for the entrance and around the front yard. Cleaned the yard up a few days ago also.

Also got the fireplace 95% done. But in the end decided the white mantel is a little too small for the fireplace. Gonna take it off and figure out where I can buy a faux wood beam mantel that fits all the way across the stone without an angle like this white one.

Sometimes it's hard to think straight with "dodger" following me around wanting to play all the time haha

Not sure what the ones in front of the house are. They were there when I moved in. I did see them at home depot over the weekend though just forgot the name. I actually bought two other shrubs. One for the corner of the front yard and one behind the pine tree next to the shrubs you see there. I'll take a pic once I'm home from the gym.

These are the shrubs I planted. Grow yellow flowers and grow to be pretty big so it'll take up the space I want to cover in the corner of the house. Plus planted one in the corner of the front yard where there's a big green post or some kind of electrical tube from the city. Figure this shrub will at least cover that up and make that area look nice. I lost the card from the shrubs with the names of them on it though.

And these are the led solar lights I bought also.

Did some yard work this morning and also spread some weed killer on the yard. I'm about to head out and spread some insect/bug killer also since it's about that time when all the bugs want to try and come out and play

Anything new?

Nothing new home wise in the past couple weeks other than cleaning up the backyard landscaping. Although my fiance did just buy me my new best friend "Rocky" yesterday since we didn't end up getting The English mastiff we were looking at a few weeks ago.

bought and built him a dog fence kennel from home depot last night for him to sleep in. I'm gonna have my hands full with this guy for a while but right now he's just a big baby and loves being held. 9 weeks old and was born on valentines day.

Thats awesome. Get a pool for him to play in.

Definitely on my list of things to get for him. Especially with the constant 100+ degree summer days down here. Good thing I have a pretty big backyard for him to run around in. Gonna start training him asap

Ok. Time to get back on board here and get finished on some projects. Starting tomorrow we'll be repainting the red in the dining area as well as one bathroom. I'll also be repainting the gazebo since the white paint is old and chipping. I plan on doing the whole bottom in white and for the top section I'm thinking of finishing off the roof and adding a cover.

Not sure how to go about it though. Do I cover the top in plywood first then add the top layer of roofing material? I'll leave the center hole open up top for the smoke of the firepit to exit. I want the end result to be a two tone with white on the main part of the gazebo and a darker brown that matches the stain on the cement for the roof. Opinions??

I also plan on finishing off the garage this week. Need the final layer of joint compound then texture and paint. Then I can finish the floor with the behr garage floor coating kit.
