Finished re-painting the dining area from the dark red to this brown. Also painted one of our bathrooms with a "potter's clay" blue texture paint. Driving down to buy some exterior paint for the gazebo in a little bit. Also got around to adding the final layer of compound to the garage drywall seams yesterday. Just need to finish up the ceiling in there and it'll be ready for texture and paint soon.

This is a way better thread to follow than some stupid show on HGTV that's not real. It really looks great, Mike. I'm sure the neighbors are clapping at all your positive changes too.

Thanks Liz. Little by little this house is turning into our own little diy network home haha. Just a few more changes to go over the next couple months to really tie everything in.

Framing got done faster than I thought. Should definitely be done with the fence tomorrow afternoon.

^ there's still a few more pieces to run across the frame today. My fiance's uncle is doing the work and says he frames fences a little bit different to prevent the wood posts from splitting. I'll post more pics as he progresses tonight

Finshied up the fence just now but was getting too dark for pictures. Still need to clean up the trash around the fence and wash off the cement in the gazebo as well as mow my lawn. Should be done tomorrow after work with the cleanup.

I'll be finishing of my side of the fence in the next few weeks also. Had to place the bottom 2x4's up a little off the ground due to the previous owner doing a shitty job with the cement pour on the side of the house. He didn't leave any room for water runoff so we left a small gap underneath so the water can flow into the neighbors side of the fence since he has a gap of dirt for runoff.

Also, don't know if any of you know about male and female sago palms but I just found out at work yesterday the damn tree trimmers jacked me for a male cone off one of my male sagos! They'll be back next weekend to trim a couple more palms and I'll be sure to let them know I found out what they did.

Fence is completely done and I spent the day cleaning around the palm trees and flower beds. Sucks that I only have one green waste can though so I have piles of trash sitting around the yard. Supposed to get a second waste pickup tomorrow since they just took on this morning. Also getting a second green trash can next week so I'll always have two from now on.

Just sprayed down the gazebo and scraped off the old chipping paint. Waiting for it to dry and I'll be putting a new coat of white on the bottom rail sections and the top under the roof section.

had the tree trimmers come back and take down one of the ugly palm trees getting in the way right next to the gazebo. got tired of paying them to do work i can do on my own so i went out and bought one of these for now.

my first chainsaw and since i won't be doing any big tree stumps or things like that i hope this works enough for me. i'll mainly be using it to cut down palm tree branches from all the palms. takes too much work doing it with the big hand lopper.

Well after a year of waiting, first home seller backing out of short sale, second one taking forever, me and my girl finally got the keys and slept in our first home last night! Moved in around 10pm when the seller finished moving out. All we had on the truck was our mattress and a gym bag full of clothes and hygiene. Felt real good waking up there this morning even if it was just a big vacant house. Have tons of work to do today but I'm excited!

Best part is my other baby FiNALLy had a home of it's own!!

I'll have lots more pics later in the next few days!

I've never been int his section of the forum. Took one look at this picture and thought "this looks like Bakersfield". I am in Louisiana, swear I have been by that fence in the back of that picture. I have family that live in Bakersfield. (not far from Dewyar's)

^ cool man. Yeah, i'd say Bakersfield has a pretty distinct look to it when you're driving around. My house is in the southwest side of town. Dewars sounds pretty damn good right about now!

Finally getting a few things done around the house. Changed out some old yellowed out recessed lights on top of the kitchen island for these hanging lights from home depot. After I installed the adapter and lights we decided the brown covers we picked out didn't match too well so I might change out the glass covers for a different style tomorrow. In the end I like the look better than before

Only had one bulb haha. The ones I picked out were a different fitting and didn't fit in this light kit.

Thanks man. Just got back from lowes after buying new covers for the lights. These look a lot nicer than the brown ones and match the kitchen a lot more with the white cabinets.
Also bought the other bulbs I needed haha.

Also got around to finishing up the bathroom my fiance painted blue the other day. Hard to get a good feel of the color blue it is but it looks real nice after we painted the ceiling white again since the old pain was fading.
