See that's my thing. I wanted to do wood floors for the entry way and than the dining and living room which are off to the sides. But, the budget is only going to allow for laminate right now since a lot of other stuff needs to be done. After a lot of back and forth I decided to just carpet those areas since the house needs all new flooring anyways. I figure in a couple years I can buy real world floors or maybe engineered.

yeah it's a tough choice man. I almost decided on returning the laminate and just recarpet the living room and hallways. then in the end I decided we're going to go through with the laminate floors except we decided to keep the tile in the kitchen and dining room for now.

I'll be starting the laminate pretty soon once the garage is done. then sometime next year I'll retile the kitchen and dining area with nicer 18" tile.

I might start ripping out carpet tomorrow on my day off and start the laminate this weekend. the money I saved from not doing to kitchen and dining area I'll use to finish off the fireplace corner wall with stone.

Without a doubt. Nearly all of the choices I'm making are hard ones. I'm doing it once and it's going to be right. I've been researching the shit out of every single thing I'm doing and buying. I've got a lot of work cut out for me. I'll probably create a build thread like yourself. I close on my house on the 15th or before, can't wait.

I've been stuck watching the DIY network and man I keep getting ideas. after the floor project I'm moving straight into building a bar/patio cover on the cement slab along the back of my house. seems like a pretty easy job to do

so today we got another layer of compound laid out across the seams in the garage. one more then we can get finished by hand texturing the walls before primer and paint soon.

decided I'd start ripping out the entry way tile and start cleaning the floor up for the laminate flooring since I'm pretty sure we'll be starting tomorrow night and through the weekend. tomorrow morning I'll finish up the rest of the tile pieces and start ripping some of the carpet out also.

first time ever ripping out tile. seems like a pretty easy cleanup job.

yeah I'm putting the wood where the tile used to be in the entry way. not sure what you meant by the thinset but here is a pic with everything cleaned up. didn't bother removing every bit of paper since the underlayment will sit flush on top of it. just need to remove the baseboards now.

don't think I ever posted our two first pieces of art to decorate the house. bought on sale at kohls for 72 bucks for both. on sale from 100 each. I think it goes perfect with the red walls

had a feeling that's what you meant by it. I just finished up with removing all the carpet and padding along with the baseboards. tomorrow I'll go over the house and clean it up real good before starting the install tomorrow afternoon. feels weird not having anything but cement on the floor right now but can't wait to see it when I'm finally done
