MT82 drain plug size

Hello,

I am stupid and stripped my tranny drain plug. Does anyone know the part number or thread pitch offhand so I can order a replacement?

pretty certain the fill plug is the same size, that being said, verify it is, then bring it to the local hardware or parts store and buy the correct size plug, I don't think you need to bring a stealership into it

It's true. The plugs look identical to me. I guess I'm more worried about the threads in your transmission though - the plugs are easily replaced.

Catalogue shows it as M16 x 1.5, Ford hardware number W701065-S303.

I'd be more worried about the transmission as well - the plugs are steel and the transmission is aluminum.

Id imagine he's not driving the car, so shouldnt be an issue really, pou some fluid in with the drain plug out and the threads should come right out, and Id doubt theyre any where other than in the threads which would make them rather harmless and easy to retrieve...........

Let me re-phrase, I'd be more worried about the threads in the transmission since aluminum will strip out before the steel. While the steel plug can be easily replaced, the threads in the transmission can't be easily replaced.

Yes, this is what I meant as well.

1.5 thread pitch pipe plugs will be a little tricky to find...especially if you're in America, which hasn't exactly embraced the metric system. Most standard metric stuff you find is 1.25, which is just close enough to go in some way and bugger the rest of the threads.

I cannot imagine how you did this but, I'd say ordering from the dealer is probably quickest and easiest. Worth an ask at least.

And I stripped the hex head, not the actual threads. I may be using the wrong terminology here, I'm a total noob when it comes to working on cars.
