My bolt on crusade - a retrospect

Right now, I am going through the traps in 3rd gear at 6200 rpm, which I think is pretty damn good. Im going trough at an optimum rpm, and I am saving a shift. This is on the stock 3.55 gears.

But, I just can't help but wonder if 4.10 gears would help me or hurt me. I would be shifting once more, and on I just might fry the hydes on street tires.

But, the seat-of-the-pants-ometer would benefit from them for sure.

What do you guys think?

4.10's will definitely help it's mathmatically impossible for them not to lol
getting mine installed soon. I have 3.31's and i'm holding third through the traps as well.

I would agree with you if I were using ET Streets, or something similar. But I am on street tires.

how come you don't have cams listed? too much work or coin?
and you should just relocate ur battery...lightweight ones don't make that much difference. transferring the weight on the other hand might be more beneficial.

Cams - both coin and too much work.

And, I did a lot of research on relocating the battery, you add a bunch of weight by doing it. ie. Wire, battery box, etc...

Well, my next mod has been decided for me.

I came across a deal I just couldn't pass up for a GT500 Throttle Body.

Anybody have an adapter plate they need to get rid of?

I went to the track for the first time this year. It finally stopped raining every day here.

Didn't do any mods to the car. I myself dropped about 20 lbs since the last time I was in the car.

Humidity was low, temp was fair, and there was a tailwind on the track.

Ran my personal best.

12.54 @ 109.5 mph. 1.79 60'

For those of you who haven't read the thread, and doesn't care to, this is on street tires, full weight. I don't even take the spare tire out of the trunk.

I was running 12.75 all gd night. Couldn't get my launch down. Kept pulling 1.91 60' times.

Now what. Long tubes? Gears? Is it possible for a 12.4 timeslip on street tires? Im so close...

With 4.10's (or even 3.73's) and Long tubes you should be able to hit 12.4 no problem, excellent driving man, this is the type of shit that makes me want to mod the shit out of my car rather then upgrading to a 5.0! Not that I can afford to do either haha

Great times, you just laid out a good blue print for what each mod will do. I just got Mac axle back on my 2005 gt manual 5sp. Next is jlt cai, sct 3 and bbr 93 oct tune, hope that gets me some nice results, to get my turf to run decent lol.

I was bummed when I saw how cool the air got after I left.

I love drag racing, but going to PRP for Thursday night T&T is a big pain in the ass- the traffic on 22 is simply horrible. Combine that with construction on the turnpike between me (North Hills area) and 22 and it makes for one bad drive. I'll probably head to QCR next time, or just run on a regular Saturday race day at PRP.

Feel free to him me up with a PM if you ever want to meet up and run at the track again!

Going to follow your layout, jlt cai, bbr tune "sct 3" with my Mac axle back, see what it does hope 8.7 or better, then do lower and upper control arms. Then delete plates.

I also agree with you about the DA correcting to see just how much you gained, for example, I went with CAI+tune only, got 14.6@99mph, went back with 4.10s, UDPs, CMDPs, and ran 13.5@102mph I didn't pick up 1.1 with those mods, DA corrected the cai+tune run was like a 13.2@107mph and the 13.5 run was 12.7@109mph so .5 sec gain seems much more reasonable. (my track is at 4000ft, almost as bad as bandimere)

I also think you should do LT headers and 4.10s

I am not sure if this is luck or not. My brother and I were very suprised that i pulled a 1.77 sixty foot on nt555 street tires.

First time out with the 3.73's. All season Pirelli's and my mods were not a good combo, so did not get any personal bests . So, have MT ET Drag Radials on the way here tomorrow . 11's here I come.
