My new chatter vid inside

Well, 127350s are in. I have great driveabilty. I upgraded to new metal tensioners with factory plastic guides. VCT is locked out. Both valve covers are quiet compared to my 127550 cams. But now I have a chatter/growl around the front cover. The sound is only present at idle and goes away with with added rpm. I primed the engine with front cover off, and then turned the engine over about 100 times to make sure everything is ok. Any ideas what this sound is? Normal?

Ok, so I now know for sure what the source of my sound is. I also now know why ford went from the metal tensioners to the plastic ones. This is what I did. I took the belt off my car and started it up. The clicking sound is still there at idle. So I get my breaker bar out and start turning the engine over by hand. Every two turns of the breaker bar, you can hear the faint click sound. One good thing is the sound is the same from left to right and it will alternate from left to right lol. Two turns right click two more turns left click. This is the same exact sound I heard after I primed the engine with front cover off and turned the engine over by hand. I guess its normal for the metal tensioners to make a little sound. As you can hear in the video the noise isn't jumping out at you like I am having a major issue its just a new noise that my car didn't make before and I was naturally worried due to all the new work I had done to my engine. Must be the reason why ford started making the one peice plastic tensioners less noise and less weight.

I have the metal tensioners and they don't make a sound.

Just asking did you pull the pins after you installed the tensioners?

I also went to the metal tensioners & I didn't notice any change in sound.
They are heavy as hell compared to the plastic ones though.

Yep, I had the noise with the plastic ones and when I did my engine swap I changed to metal ones. Noise didn't go away. It's something in the heads. I've had the noise for about 3 years now. Don't worry about it.
