We wanted to do something a little different with the front of the house but keep the overall look. Plus, our front door was torn up from the rain and sun hitting it, so we needed to protect it somehow.

I'm liking the way it is turning out.
We should start painting this weekend. I'll post more pics after today.

I like it, Dave! Make sure you post more pics as it gets finished.

We intentionally had a front porch designed into our new house for pretty much the same reasons. It is a nice architectural element, keeps the weather away from the door, and is a great place to sit and relax and watch the world go by.

Thanks, Don. Exactly why we did it. It sucks trying to get the key out and hold up an umbrella. Plus, you're right, it just looks better.

As of today...Look at all that shade.
