This at 264 miles since last empty...

No, we don't have detailed directions on how to cut and reuse your own hose, but what we do offer is a Base kit. You get the separator and build the rest yourself. We have this for the more custom set ups, but it sure would work on the 5.0

It's $109 and on the web site.

So those directions and a cheaper product would be too much for you guys to handle? The hoses cost $40 or so from what you've said, but the "base" model costs $109 and the one with hoses, when you get them that is, will cost $119?

I'm not the best at math, but something isn't adding up. The customers want a solution now. You aren't providing one. It isn't your fault Ford keeps putting off the date on shipping the hoses, but you shouldn't have announced availability until you had parts in hand to ship instead of stringing people along like this.

Thanks for all the business advice you have been giving me lately, as you can see JLT Performance doesn’t know what were doing.

Not that I need to take the time to explain to you how we do business I will give a little insight to us and this part.
JLT performance’s first and main business is manufacturing intakes. We have over 30 different kits for Mustangs, Ford trucks and the Dodge Hemi. That’s first, then as a car guy, I think of other parts we can come up with the make cars faster, look better and run cleaner.
This is where we get JLT carbon fiber dress up parts, Oil Separators, Brake cooling kits, fresh air kits, grille bezels, custom paint and so on.
So as a company with only a few employees we do a bang up job keeping all this in line.

We have been through this with the Ford hoses when we developed the kit for the GT500 passenger side, then again for the driver side, then again for the 05-10 GT and now for the 5.0. It’s normal, frustrating, but normal. Ford had no reason to make hundreds of extra PCV hoses, but every time they go back to their vendor and have more made fro us. I think its funny were throwing Ford for a loop and have them wondering “WTF are these guys doing with these things?”

So, let’s talk about the JLT Oil Separator. It starts from a solid piece of Billet aluminum, then after hours on a CNC, having threads cut, holes drilled, mounting holes threaded, logo etched, it’s sent off to anodizing. When back they are QC’d, an O-ring is added along with an OEM Ford PCV filter, threads are oiled & antisiezed.

This finished product sells for $109. We also offer custom made mounting brackets if you need them.
Not bad, when it’s the same price as the next product in the market:

So let’s help you with the math on the hoses.
You go into your local dealer and order a new hose and you will pay around $40. I buy in bulk, everything I can I do in large quantities.
So do you think I can get them for 90% off? No, but what I do is only add $10 to the base kit in order to keep the price point where we will sell tons of them and dip into the profit to do this. It’s worth it to us. As you can see people bitch about it at $119, imagine if it was $139 where it should be??

So I use my buying power to keep over all price low and sell in volume.

Next, in order to keep good relation ships with my suppliers I don’t harass them the day that say Ford “hopes” (est.) they will ship. I give it a few days, work on one of the many other things we do here and then make a phone call.
Remember back a few paragraphs; I’ve been though this before with the Ford hoses, but they always catch up and we can supply the customer with the final product.

Now, I could and may do some directions on how to cut your own hose and do it yourself, but only if I feel it’s going to be weeks longer. So am I supposed to do this at no charge? Take the time to take pictures, upload them, do detailed directions, print them and then field calls from customers who can’t figure it out or cut their stock hose wrong?? It has and will happen. So now what?
Then the next day the hoses come in.
Now I will get calls from customers wanting the new hose for $10 because that all we charge on the upgrade. Well, now I’m processing orders twice, shipping twice and all this takes time, valuable time.

So, in a nut shell, this part looks, fits and works great! It’s not a lung or kidney, if you get it today or next week will not matter. If you need it today, I can't help you and have to bow my head and understand that you moved on.

Yesterday my daughter was sick with a fever, so Lisa (my wife) and I switched off half days at home to take care of her. Things like this happen to us as it does everyone out there. In my life family comes first and that puts things at JLT behind.

I have been up front, posted about the delays and have not taken a single dime from anyone.
We have a list going with orders for the 2011 5.0 kit and are updating people as much as we can. To be honest the list is almost full compared to the amount of hoses coming in. Frank, are you on the list?

Frank, I’ve tried to help you with your low dyno numbers even though you don’t have my product, I’ve answered every PM and post in a thread (some a few times on the same question) I feel I’ve been very helpful to you and you are not giving me the same help and respect to me here.
I’m sorry this is taking longer then you like. Lethal sells the UPR can for $109 and then you can drill holes in your car and run lines to it. I think they have them in stock too.

Make no mistake about it though, many people know what it is to do more with the same assets. I spent 21 years in the Army and trust me, I know all about it. The four different jobs I was doing before I got out would make you cringe. So I do understand limited help and its impact on what you can do.

Basic economics and yes, I did catch your disdain for my suggesting you actually have parts in hand before announcing the product. I'm sure this isn't a piece of "advice" you've never heard and I'm also sure your frustration with the delivery date is causing you to respond with some of that frustration here. Hey, you're human like the rest of us. I know you HAVE to make a profit and that's fine. I've expressed, repeatedly, my interest in your product and your product alone. While some people may bitch about the price of it, I don't think you've seen me doing that now have you? I'm not being condescending with you, please try to keep yourself from doing so with me. As a potential customer, I think I'm entitled to vote with my wallet and ask questions when there are delays. My vote has been for your product, so as the business man, you're just gonna have to deal with the questions/suggestions, whether you like them or not. (Some more free business advice for you.)

You tell them that since they've screwed it up, you'd be happy to sell them the hoses for a slight markup for your having to take the time to package and send them. Or, they can go buy their own from Ford. You aren't responsible because others fuck something up when there are clear, concise directions, with pictures as you pointed out, right there in front of them. You even put a nice disclaimer on the directions to that effect. And charge for the directions? If you must. But I don't see many companies, actually...none, that charge for install directions.

You don't have the time to do it right now....got it. Which is a completely acceptable answer.

I hope your daughter is doing much better today. I have two kids myself. Few things are more difficult in family life than taking care of a sick child. I know the compromises one must make to run a family and still satisfy your work requirements.

No, I'm not. I assume that if you've had the list almost completely filled up, you've already ordered some more hoses/separators. If I miss out, that's my fault. But I'm on a strict budget as a medically retired Army guy. Until my benefits are squared away, I cannot put aside $119 and have it on hold with an unknown date of being pulled out of my account. If I have the $$ when the product is ready, then I'll buy it. Right now, I have the money for it. Tomorrow, I may not depending on what pops up. You think dealing with a sick child is hard? Wait until you have a sick teenager home from school and another in college while your income is up in the air.

Jay, I appreciated your help then, as I still do now, with my low dyno numbers. I've not attacked you or your company and I'm sorry you feel that I have for that was not my intent. Sometimes, you DO have to explain to your customers why something is taking longer than normal or why your prices are set the way they are. It's called customer service. I do believe I've commented on my perception of your customer service, in a positive way I might add, in other areas of this forum. I'm not trying to take your lunch money or call your momma names. I'm not trying to stab you in the back the way you have impressed upon me here as you are feeling. I've just wanted more information on why it's taking so long and I would imagine others here do as well. After all, it's about business and money. I'm ready to spend it, I want the product to be ready. I'm willing to bet you've had a similar experience with a product you've wanted for yourself or your kids in the past.

I won't be moving on to the next product. My interest lies with your product. After researching it, JLT has a clearly superior option for ease of install, performance and appearance. Family does come first, always. Customers come next though and I appreciate the time you have taken to explain to me why it's taking so long and also, what your future plans *might* be with the product and install directions. Obviously, this isn't something that HAS to be installed today, but I don't want to wait too long either. Forgive me if I seem pushy with my interest in your product. Next time you come up with something and the parts aren't ready for you to ship immediately, I'll have to remember that it could be quite some time if your suppliers take longer than you expect them too.

Ok, I just got off the phone with my Ford parts guy.
They are built and in stock in Memphis and due to ship by the 19th, that's this Friday.

So that means we will get them by mid week next week and start shipping in order off the list.

Ahh, the list. As of yesterday **Correction** We are all most SOLD OUT of black separators **Correction** for the 2011 5.0. We have about 15 clear separators and hoses left.
The next batch of hoses and separators are due from machining 12/17/10 and we will be sure to ship before the holiday.

So, those on the list, you should be getting your kits starting late next week. If not and want one, please call to order.
