So my buddy went to the track and while burning out, I guess he put to much stress?? On 295 MPSS street tires, bolt ons and AED tune, I think 420-430 rwhp...the entire rear window shattered, barely held together by tint...will a rear shock tower brace prevent this in the future? was it a fluke? wtf haha

Oh crap! I have a rear shock brace I was going to sell but I think I'll put it on the car now.

A 2 point strut brace, front or rear, isn't going to do SQUAT to stop the motion that would cause the window frame to go far enough out of square to break a window. The way to prevent this is to put an x-brace over the rear seat opening like the Boss 302 LS has or a cage. A two point brace out back is only going to force the shock towers to move in the same direction and I'll be perfectly honest, there isn't enough force there when the springs are still located in the stock location to justify the brace. They provide no rigidity in the direction these forces were producing (torsion about the horizontal longitudinal axis when looking in front/rear view).

I'm willing to bet something else happened here though. Bad wheel hop is a good guess.

Thinking more about this, I'm suspecting perhaps a failed weld (or welds) in the frame or body causing the car to be able to flex more than usual.

I dunno, wondering if was defect in glass or the install of glass.. or was there already damage to glass that wasn't easily noticed

Same thing happened to my mothers 2011 Malibu. Defective glass and replaced under her warranty. May have nothing to do with wheel hop of frame flex. What do they say about horses and zebras? :)
