I sent an e-mail to Jeff and he asked me if i would be willing to let them measure my car for these brakes. I said I would if I lived closer, I'm about 1000 miles from them, they are in Charlotte NC. Is there anyone in the s197 forum from Charlotte area? Send Jeff an e-mail. They seem real interested in our car!

Since this is my original thead I thought I'd bring you all up to date.
Had a great track day on the 24th. Chasing and passing a number of Porsches, Miatas w/turbos and a few M3s. My stock rotors combined with Cobalt XR 2 pads did great until a front rotor cracked in 3 places. I decided to abandon my plan to stick with stock rotors. Since this thread started I have been doing a lot of research. Was thinking hard about the Wilwood 13" - 6 piston kit but I found "The Brake Man" to be a wealth of "believeable" knowledge and am convinced they have the right product. I pulled the trigger and have a 13" kit being shipped today. If anyone is looking at brake options I suggest you look at www.thebrakeman.com and call the Warren the owner.
Next track day is Sept 10 for me. Will report back how they did

what does a kit like that cost? i didnt see pricing on the site

are you serious? theres a big 549 in the middle of the page, right side of the image ... so $1,100 for 2 calipers thats something I dont like myself, I'd better spend that cash for a new GT500 set or even 600 for a GT500 used set.

I just got an e-mail from Jeff and they have not yet found a car to measure. If anyone in that area can help us out it would be appreciated. Send him an e-mail to see what it would take, AP racing makes good parts.

Got my calipers from the Brake Man just before the holiday weekend. Beautiful product - very tight tolerances. Every part machined from billet. Package was complete down to brake lines, brake fluid and shims. As I was warned, the casting tolerances on our spindles is less than precise. Shims used were diff from one side to the next. The install was straight forward but it took several tries before I got it exactly square. I was given the owners cell nbr in case I had any questions during instalation over the weekend (I did).

Happy with them on the street - track day is this weekend.

My 1st track day with "The Brake Man" calipers was simply amazing. Was delighted with the ease of changing from street to race pads. Literally took a few minutes/side. Added stopping power was more than I expected and was very surprised at how much smoother my transitions were. Brakes were consistent throughout the day. Could not be happier with my decision. Only thing better than the product was the customer service. If you are considering a brake upgrade it would be worth your time to speak with Warren (owner). Mention you are a part of the forum - may haelp with the pricing.
