So, I bought the car cheap-ish, a few days ago. The car was running smooth as can be upon purchase from this elderly man. A day after I had taken the car home is when I stumbled upon the issues. I was taking a turn onto a different road, so I was going slow, and the car died while turning. Which was a bitch ‘cause no power steering. Had to turn the radio off to get the vehicle to stay on long enough to make it 1/4 mile down the road home. Now I can’t get the car to idle properly and stay alive at a stop, without gassing it. I’ve replaced/cleaned quite a few parts already that I’ll list but can someone point me in the right direction? I’m getting so many different answers about a rough idle and stalling in the s197s!!!

I will be changing my brakes and rotors (finishing them cause I had to special order my caliper brackets for the rear) tomorrow(10-13) and plan on buying a new EGR valve and fuel filter. Alternator tested fine.

New parts:
1.) Spark plugs & wires
2.) Distributor
3.) Oil change
4.) K&N CAI Filter
5.) Cleaned the TB
6.) Cleaned EGR sponge
7.) New battery

Yeah.. That's the first step
And check out for the fuel pressure
And after that check the air mass flow sensor

I don't trust the 6g alts that come with these cars. I know you said it tested "fine" but that could be a false positive. If you have to turn off the radio to get moving sound like a power issue. Scan for codes.
