So I purchased this vehicle for low price. Since it did need quite a bit of work done. I could tell that the clutch wasn't gonna last too long. After driving it the first time, so it wasn't a surprise. When it finally gave out, but before the clutch gave out, I did do a tune up on the car and was very happy to see how great the car ran after swapping the coil pack, spark plugs, wires, alternator and battery termianls. Engine was running very smooth. Just FYI the car never ran rough or through any cylinder misfires. The only thing that i noticed was when I would turn the ac on or rolled the windows up It would seem like the car would lose power. The rpms would drop and the car would shake a little bit, but it never threw out any codes. When I swapped the alternator, this issue was completely resolved, I never had any other issues with idling. At this point the car ran perfectly no noises coming from the engine or transmission and idle is smooth. So I don't have the equipment and tools needed to swap the clutch myself, so I have the car towed to an AutoShop nearby with good reviews?
Who gave me a fair price on a clutch swap
For labor only since I was bringing the clutch kit which I ordered from rock auto. They charged me 490 for labor only and they installed the LUK CLUTCH KIT that I provided. The kit I ordered included a new slave cylinder and flywheel I'll provide images of everything. When they called me to let me no, that the car was ready. I went to go pick it up. I quickly noticed how much better this new clutch is. The car was biting about half way off the clutch. It felt great until I got about 5 blocks away from the shop. The car started to idle very rough and installed out a few times I drove back to the shop. Explain to them what was going on. They connected to the car there. Weren't any cylinder misfire codes? But for some reason, the mass airflow sensor code came on
The mechanic couldn't find any issues with The engine that would cause it to idle the way it was idline, he checked the fuel pressure, the injectors etc. The problem is that since I had the vehicle towed there, he's telling me that he's not able to verify that the car was running fine before they got their hands on it. Now the mechanic is telling me that the engine light is coming on, and the problem is the mass airflow sensor.
Now they're charging extra money to diagnose that issue and want to charge me to replace the mass airflow sensor. After reading a few forums, I came across the crankshaft positions. Answer having issues anytime the flywheel is disturbed. I explained that to the mechanic and asked him if he could perform a crankshaft position sensor relearn, or recalibrate it, he's telling me that is not the issue. And if so, they would have to take it to a dealership in order to get that done. I've already spent quite a bit of money trying to get this. Is she resolved? If anybody has any information on what I can do to get this fixed, please comment or contact me with any help. It would be much appreciated, thank you.
