Doh!!!!!

Well, if you're not screwing stuff up every once in a while you're not trying hard enough.

Using the cobra bell housing also rotates the whole trans about 6 degrees, I was not aware of the depth difference.

I would like to have an aluminum bell housing for my Magnum.

After dealing with the first clutch I did on one of these I have spent a bunch of time measuring and shimming the slaves. Man, I only want to put it in once!!

But this was a mega Doh!!, all the care on the engine stuff and screwing it with the trans was bad, lol.

Using the cobra bell housing also rotates the whole trans about 6 degrees, I was not aware of the depth difference.

Did not checked that, we thought on probable centering issues but it is really hard to measure due the bellhousing hole not being centered/round, when we reinstalled, the thing went in so nicely (the input shaft into the bearing) that I doubt there is off center.

How did you found this out? The trans is tilted, as is the magnum, to the left.

Well now you can do it, just need the proper slave and spacer, just need to rework on the slave line area to give it some space or bend the line some as the trans to bell sandwich has the hydraulic provision but the bell itself don't.

Nice job finding the issue and glad you got it fixed Manuel. :beerdrink:

Thanks! I just hope this time it holds, will probably know next weekend as I take the car out for a longer drive. Still need to install the 4.30, new brakes, remove the return fuel system and the EPAS as I get it down here.

With that pressure on the pilot bearing did you think of checking the crank thrust bearing?

Yes but I don't want to open it up just yet, if it runs ok it will stay as is, if it fails then I'll know what was it when I install something else, will open the current oil filter up on the next oil change and see how much brass/bronze I get on it to get an idea. Is not like I can come with a new thrust bearing as a replacement, the current one is custom and is riveted to the block/cap would need to take everything out to do it.

Years ago on a 351w I had a similar thing happen but didn't have a custom thrust bearing so I just pulled it out and replaced it. You should be able to check the dampener travel with a dial gage to give you an idea where you stand.

Yes and I thought about that when working on the trans but we were more interested in knowing how bad the trans was and if we were out of spec I wont be able to fix it either so left it as is and hope it is ok still, right now, it is what it is. It was really tight when we installed everything, hope it survived.

Thanks, also forgot about Jim, his build is in the worst shape of all as he lost interest in it so for him I've also lit a candle [emoji6]

Jim may need some voodoo.:roflmao:

Poor guy. I was on the phone with him almost every day talking about the build with him. Then the wiring issue crops up and he disappears. He must be really dejected. That sucks.

I want some butts!!!!

Yea, poor Jim. I was texting him the other day trying to talk him out of parting the car out. He really doesn't wanna fuck with it anymore, but he's Soooo close to having it done

Is a shame plane tickets have gotten from dirty cheap to absurdly expensive down here or I would really go and help him finish this myself, he deserves all the help I could give him but being this far sucks. He just needs a little push and a fresh/new head at it.

I was thinking about this the other day. How much does it cost to get you up here? Are you at all interested in coming into town and doing Coyote tuning? I knew you wanted to get your hands on a car.

Thank God, I'm gonna need a little luck hahaha. But I think I'm just gonna pay Vorshlag to do my wiring harness.

You can free up your fingers that were reserved for me since mine isn't as important as some of the other cars. Mine is just a time constraint issue but I don't think I'll have any issues with the car running once I'm done.
