If you haven't already secured the 4.6, might I suggest the humble workhorse 3.5 Ecoboost?

If the 331 in my 93 GT expires, a 3.5EB is going in it. It may not sound as good as a V8, but when a 100% stock F150 puts 398 hp and 457 ft-lbs to the rollers in a truck with nothing but a 93 octane tune........it has my attention.

I’ve already secured my donor engine. Found a good deal and made quick work of it. The world waits for no one. I’ve started a build thread of sorts in the engine swap section. See here....

As for the 3.5 Ecoboost, I bought a 2012 new. I love the truck, however the engine began to suffer power loss around 20000miles, timing would make a hellacious growl every time I started it. I couldn’t convince Ford to fix it until 70,000 miles. When they finally got to it a week later.... I brought it home none the better. I’ve also had the trans downshift from 5th to 1st at speed. Dethwobble limp... However, other than that...before problems, towed like a beast. @103,000 I went in and did the job myself. Replacing the entire timing assembly, phasers, and all...I did a great job, it runs great, no growling timing chain slap. But at $1000 in parts alone to do the job, 4 VCT phasers, I’d much rather spend a little more on a coyote over the ecoboost. Just my 2¢
