New numbers...?

Got some numbers from Modular Depot today. On an unfinalized tune, I made 450 rwhp on 13 psi from my 2.4 kb. Quick list of big mods are Probe 298 cu. In stroker from SD, ported heads by Fox Lake, comp 127500 cams, Bassani LTs with no cats and x, 8 rib kit, IW 10% overdrive pulley, all on pump gas.

What do you guys think? I was expecting more but I know dyno numbers don't mean much. My biggest concern is I spent all this money when I could run 13 psi on my stock block and get 490ish rwhp.

Also, my stock maf was pegged so they put a mafia and haven't been able to finalize the tun yet but they said its pretty close, I can't see much more hp from just that... they also said the breather started leaking oil, could it be leaking boost? I have a 3.12" pulley I believe

See, that's what I'm thinking. Just as an fyi, its the stock throttle body and the blower has a 3.1" pulley. I have nitrous, either a 50 or 75 shot but I'm only going to use that with my race tune which will be on Cam2 unleaded 100 octane. Also I have a meziere electric water pump.

Does my car just need more boost to be efficient with all the extra airflow?

yeah, that is crazy low. I have 10psi on a stock block, stock cams, and stock heads and I'm making almost 500whp. Granted I am centri and you are TS, but still, you should be making over 500whp with that setup

Yeah that seems extremely low...I figured with those mods somewhere are 550-600rwhp at 13psi.

You pegged your stock MAF and it sounds like he is re-tuning it with the Mafia? Whats the problem? He'll make more power once he gets the mafia set up right. What fuel system setup do you have?

Well see that's what I was under the impression of but they made it sound like I won't pick up much hp from adding the mafia and finalizing the tune.

Even though dynos vary, I agree, those numbers seem low. What compression ratio?

I wonder if those SPR N/A cam's may be hurting you a little. If I were you I would have just spent the extra $$ and just got the BA-5000 MAF since it sounds like you are highly capable of prodcuing some big numbers when it all get's straightened out (built motor, heads and cams). It depends on when your MAF started maxing out in regards to how much you will gain after the MAFia and additional tweaking is done. I maxed out the MAF in my setup with stock long block and 127200 cams. I needed a MAFia as well. I plan on getting the BA-5000 MAF and upgrade the fuel system. Then build an engine. IMO the MAFia is a band aid and is just another part to fail. For now I have a band aid as well, but I can't push my setup any further where you can.

The cams aren't hurting me, they make power on lots of cars and after talking to a lot of people, they won't do any damage to my numbers, it may just leak some boost (which I don't think is the issue, 13 psi with a 3.1" sounds about right...)

And Modular Depot recommended the MAFia, what other options do I have?

The motor is a little higher compression then most TS builds. I wanna say its a 9.8:1, maybe SD can chime in, he built it. My plans changed a few times, and I didn't want to deal with getting a lower compression block because I might end up going turbo in the future.

And forgot to mention, as far as the fuel setup goes, it is the Dual GT500 pump setup with dual Kenne Bell BAPs and FRPP 80# injectors

Got you on the cams. Like you mentioned, I was just curious about some boost leak. But thinking about it, 13 PSI sounds good (maybe a tad low) and should produce plenty of power with a 9.8 C/R. A lot of guys like to use the MAFia as it is quick and easy as far as tuning goes and they usually carry them on hand. Nothing "wrong" with them. I know that when I up power with my build I will be ditching the MAFia and going with the BA-5000. Sounds like you have plenty of fuel to support your setup as well.

I guess all you can do is wait and see how it does after the MAFia goes in with the finalized tuning.

It's not like Mod Depot is known for low dyno numbers or anything either. They may have little to no timing and a fat tune to keep it away from pegging the MAF.

Most KB/TS guys can produce 450/450ish on a bone stock motor with 8-10psi. Something seems fishy to me.

Well, they haven't messed with the tune since they put on the MAFia, but they said it was pretty finalized.

And like you say, most make 450 on 8-10 on a stock motor, let alone all my mods. So that's why I'm a little confused about the numbers. I thought for sure I would be over 500 with the 13 psi

Edit: Also, before on the stock motor with just the blower I was at about 490 wheel with about 12-13 psi, but my maf (as far as I know) was NOT pegged. Could it be getting pegged now since all the extra air flow?

Right now, yes, I am a little dissappointed, but no reason to be too disappointed yet, it may just be an easy fix.

But they are supposed to retune with the MAFia, if I remember correctly...

A/F ratio and max timing at WOT I'm not aware of. I'm going to make a trip down there today to take them race gas and to pic up some stock parts so I'll see if they can supply me with that stuff

Not having a MAFia and pegging you're MAF could definitely sway the numbers...What was the A/F? Timing? Are they being ulta safe? What kind of dyno? Anyone you know with similar set-up thats uses that same dyno? Dont get caught up in the dyno numbers comparison. Some guys say they have 400 whp, and some guys with thw same set-up say they have 500 whp..I would take it to the track and see where you're mph is..

I personally don't believe the 500 whp @ 10 psi a lot of guys get on the stock engine with a simple blower setup, so I think it's an erroneous benchmark. The timeslips just don't back it up.

It took 18 psi with a 2.3 whipple for PSRacer to hit 600 whp and those numbers were backed up by fast timeslips.

Put that on my buddys MD and its 440-450..lol..Its known as the heartbreaker to the dyno queens..
