I just purchased a 07 gt/cs. It has the infamous knock/clunk that it seems that everyone has. The dealer said the previous owner lowered the car, but the suspension looks stock. Hell the springs still have Ford stickers on them. The knock is pretty ruff and very annoying. I am going to get under there and put a wrench on all the hardware as soon as I get another set of ramps, but I was wondering if anyone local with more experience with mustangs could take a look for a second opinion. So is there anyone around the Athens, GA area that would be willing to take a look? I need someone with experience with both stock and aftermarket suspensions. Thank you.

The front mostly. Only happens when going 45mph or slower over bumps or ruff roads. I did a search in the 4.6 section and found alot of threads about the "clunk" and lots of different places it could be coming from, but no hard answer to the problem.

It doesn't happen when turning, only bumps and rough roads at speeds of 45 or less.

Grr, if I saw this yesterday I coulda swung by to take a look, but im back in Atlanta now :(

I have fully replaced 80 percent of my suspension and dont really have a loud clunk over speed bumps. What kind of struts do you have? Stock still?

As far as I can tell everything is stock, but the dealer was said that the previous owner lowered the car. I can't figure out how though.

Thats what I'm thinking. If it is lowered its maybe 1/2". I think the 19" wheels have more to do with it looking lower than what ever was or wasn't done to the suspension. I am going to take it by Kurgan some time this week or next and hopefully they can help me out. Thanks for the replies.

I had the same problem. Took it to a ford dealer in Missouri when I was in that area and I think they said my A-arm bolts were lose. I cant remember exactly what bolts where lose but they fixed it no questions asked. I do know it was on the front possible the sub-frame. I almost want to say there was a notice put out to ford dealers about this, not a recall though.

I would have to check my paper work on the car which is stored in Missouri till May when I get back from Iraq. Hope this helps some what.

EDIT: Im 90 percent sure it was the sub-frame bolts. Should be 2 on each side of the car. Maybe 3/4 size. Hard to remember exactly. But check your sub-frame bolts.

This is what ford told me when they fixed the noise on my front end. I wasnt able to look underneath while they did this. I would have to look under my car but it is still in storage in St. Louis and wont have it back till May. If I was able to look under a mustang I could take a picture of this.
