I have been looking for a great deal on some different rims for my car for a while now. Wanted terminators but found these Cobra R's and couldn't really say no for $225 with two decent rear tires. Car will look alot better lowered but for now she is my 4x4. LOL

That will look absolutely awesome once you lower the car and get the center caps. I have some V6 Pony caps, a set of four, in case you can't find the ones you want. But be aware that I am going to be unable to do anything for the next 10-14 days.

Check the For Sale section of the forums. There's always a set of springs up for sale it seems like.

I appreciate it, but i think only certain caps fit these rims...i have my Bullit caps but they look too big.

Even after the car is lowered, I feel like it's gonna be quite a gap in the rear because of how small the tires are...

Looks great either way, just something to think about

Yeah those wheels/rims are just too small in general for the s197 body. Looks really weird regardless of needing to be lowered.

Really? They are still 275/40/17 out back.

Doesn't really matter much to me personally. I am more concerned about pulling nasty 60's on the street than looking pretty. LOL

I wish Nitto made a better sized DR for the 17's. I am tempted to go to a M/T or BFG because I think they have taller DR's for 17's, but this being my daily I need a tire that will be safe in the rain.

Any suggestions you guys have are appreciated.

Yeah man, 275/40/17 is a 25.6" tall tire, way too short. Stock tire height is 27.2"

Have you corrected your speedo? What gears do you run?

Yeah I do all the corrections with the Predator. I run 4.10 gears.

Are you saying it is a bad idea for purely asthetic reasons, or for performance somehow?

The looks only matter so much to me...I like to win first, look good second. LOL

Both. But mostly perfomance reasons.

A taller tire has a greater circumference which means more contact patch with the road/more traction. Those tires are making your effective gearing higher as well ( around 4.36) which hurts traction, gas mileage etc also.

If I had the kind of power your making I would be much more likely to agree with you. lol But with me only making low 300's to the wheels the additional gearing helps my car get out of the hole better and get through the gears better.

You'll really think i am crazy when i say I liked my 315/35's even better LOLOL
