you might want to hold onto the stock block jst in case seeings how the no longer make 4.6 aluminum blocks.

I bet thats why they just recently went almost another $500 up in price...

I actually put the heads back on tonight. Didnt take pics of them on though....

Seems like a way cheaper route than going to buy painted ones already!

ya i prep'd them. i just used a spray de-greaser along with a scotchbrite pad and small brush to clean and remove any tarnish/grease/oil..... then i gave them a final wipe down with a paint prep, blew them dry, then came the paint

Prepping them is the key to the paint lasting and not flaking off.
There are alot of tight ridges and corners that the paint like to pull away from or run, paint and clear is the easy part, prepping will make or break you.

They have 4 coats on them, about 3/4's of a can. The paint is rated as a engine block enamel. I think up to 450*

Yea, I spent around 30-40 mins on each cover when prepping them. The most imporant is getting through the aluminum tarnish spots... its that dark shit that comes off them...

Well, after afew days trying to firgure out how to time this damn thing, I finally got it....

Yesterday, got the near chain on... Then I felt like shit and decided to get some rest...

Just finished, heads on and timed...

Also, Im thinking about ordering a set of shortys next week and trying to make up my mind where to have it tuned again..... So far im torn between where I had the car tuned last, Efi logics or Evolution performance .....

if you got the motor out do the shorty's now it'll save you a headache. i love my ford racing shorty's they're easy as hell to install.
