How much power is gained by adding a offroad x pipe or doing long tube headers? I was thinking the main gain is from losing the cats. has anyone done a before and after dyno? I'm wanting to add an o/r x pipe but not sure if it's worth taking the cats off. Oh if I take the cats off and tune it, will the engine light be on? Thanks, Steve

If you take the cats out, you can have your tuner shut off the rear O2 sensors and not have to worry about the check engine light.

I have JBA LT's and H-pipe with and with out cats, it wasn't but a few HP 1-3hp difference but without the cats the exhaust is louder and has a raspy sound to it.

What is SC state inspection like these days. As the emission standards seem to be different in every state, I can only go by what we deal with in GA. I would make sure you keep converters on the car, long tubes or shortys. Convertors are not near as restrictive on the new cars as they used to be. Although, I don't really like them in any turbo application.

do LT's and o/r mid pipe. you'll gain some power, engine will be more efficient, and sound better. since you dont have inspections, its a win / win. if you dont need the cats, i dont see any reason for keeping them.

NO cats will be LOUD!! If your car is driven frequently or on long highway cruises it may get to you.

I swapped out my Midpipe for a Maganflow Catted X, the high flow cats are far less restrictive than the OEM cats and youll gain a couple horses but you wont really feel that much on the butt dyno. Sounds great too!

I have an offroad H-pipe. It is loud but only when accelerating when just cruising it is pretty quiet. My 94 5.0 with cats and flowmasters drones like a mother on the freeway but not the new car.

Dude unless your hard of hearing there is no way I would have your mufflers without cats. I had flowmaster 10s, then flowmaster 44s, then pypes mid mufflers all without cats. Way too loud for ME. I ended up with the magnaflows (not the magnapaks) and without cats the car is just a hair louder than it was with cats and factory mufflers. My 2cents. Oh yeah I did notice my car picks up rpm quicker without my cats. So its really just a matter of personal preferences.

Are you saying that your car is only a hair louder than it was with the factory exhaust? I've got the same exhaust set-up. O/R X pipe and Magnaflow catback, it is certainly a lot louder than stock! I actually switched from a mid muffler Magnapack system with the offroad x pipe because it was too loud too.

x will theoretically give you more power but i think it sounds to raspy for me

h is almost as good for power and i think it sounds way better listen to clips on youtube and you can decide for your self

also brenspeed sells the pipes pretty cheap i would never want to go back to the stock exhaust after having an o/r pipe

i defantiy felt some more power in the but dyno but no actual numbers on the gains
